The San Cassiano Ca'Favretto is the only Grand Canal palazzo previously owned by a Venetian artist. Home to Giacomo Favretto, one of the city's favorite painters during the second half of the 19th-century, lively pictures of Venice and its subjects are dotted all around the hotel, giving it an artsy, bohemian atmosphere. Arriving by water taxi to the canal-level front door, this red-painted palace on the Grand Canal is a handsome sight. The pedestrian entrance, reached via quiet residential alleyways, features a small open courtyard with stone columns and a well planted with a tree. The reception is a dramatic, high-ceilinged, covered courtyard with original beams, huge chandeliers, a large Venetian flag and artworks.
The San Cassiano Ca'Favretto has a terrace and breakfast room providing romantic waterfront views. A complimentary hot and cold buffet breakfast is served each morning. The hotel also has a typical Venetian bar a collection of precious Murano glass figures. Just off here is a small salon with green-baize covered card tables. Alternatively, guests can enjoy a drink on a small terrace outside directly overlooking the Grand Canal.
Multilingual staff on the 24-hour front desk can exchange currency, offer information on Venice, and help book tours and tickets.

“Beautiful, quaint hotel”
This is a wonderful hotel that is perfectly situated to see this magical city. We had an amazing canal view room (#105 I think) that was huge and beautiful. We had two gigantic windows that opened up onto the Grand Canal and we spent hours watching boats go by. Venice is a fun place to just wander and explore and this is a perfect place to accomplish that. The included breakfast buffet was great and the staff were wonderful. We loved every aspect of our stay and highly recommend it.
“Fantastic hotel & location”
The hotel was excellent, if a little difficult to find when we first arrived. The staff were very friendly and the setting was very peaceful and relaxing. We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Venice.
“Great hotel on the Grand Canal”
Beautiful hotel in a great location on the Grand Canal. Room was small, but very well appointed and comfortable. Close to the fish market and the Rialto Bridge. Lots of great restaurants in the vicinity. Feels quiet and off the beaten track, yet is still close to all the sights. Recommended.
“Beautiful View”
Our family of 4 fit comfortably in the upgraded room that was given to us when we arrived. Breakfast was excellent - arrive early though. Sitting on the balconies overlooking the Grand Canal was a relaxing break from the bustle of sightseeing. Being able to watch the lightening storm from our window facing the Grand Canal in the early morning hours when Venice was just awakening was amazing.
“Perfecto!”
This 14th century Venetian hotel is tucked away from the tourist areas yet sits on the Grand Canal midway between the train station and Rialto Bridge. Easy strolling distance to everywhere. Upon arrival, take a water taxi directly to the hotel's dock. The staff is eager to assist and we found our triple room clean, large and with a full view of the canal.
“this is a nice hotel.”
A nice hotel with great location. It would be perfect if they have a suttle boat from the airport the hotel,to make the transfer easier.
“Wonderful Hotel on both visits”
I have stayed at this hotel on 2 trips to Venice. The hotel is an excellent value for the type of accomodations. The staff are very helpful and extremely pleasant. Great location and the breakfast is very nice. I will stay at San Cassiano again if I am fortunate enough to return to Venice!!
“charming”
A great hotel for the price. I strongly recommend. The room was clean, practical, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and they spoke many different languages.
