A slice of history in Venice

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: huge character and well located
Cons: room did not feel very 'deluxe' but in fairness some of this is simply due to small dimensions with 4 beds to fit in?!
i stayed at this hotel during August 2014, family of 4 in a quad deluxe. not the easiest place to find especially when you arrive loaded with baggage and are tired, so really pay attention to how you will get to the site. i think vaporetto station S Stae is nearest, but there are quite a few bridges to drag luggage over, so found that whilst vaporetto stn Realto Mercato might be a little further away, you have less bridges to cover so we used this on the way home and found it easier. the room covered our needs but didnt exactly over whelm to be honest (didnt feel deluxe), pretty tight on space, albeit we fully understand the historical nature of the building so you get what you get - had everything you needed but just didnt sparkle if you know what i mean. not to take anything away from the overall hotel, breakfast was ample, staff very friendly and helpful, loads of history, well located, small courtyard and verander on the canal where you can have a drink - so all in all we felt it was a good place to stay.

Alright hotel

Posted Aug 7, 2014
There's no elevators so carrying luggage up and down the stairs was a pain. The interior of the hotel is very nice and reminds me of palaces in the middle ages. The staff are very friendly and helpful! The hotel is a short walk from the Rialto bridge and San Stae stop which was convenient! The rooms don't have a kettle and cups and the mini fridge did not work.

Lovely Hotel right on the Grand Canal

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: I liked the fact that it was right on the canal. You could sit on the terrace and enjoy watching the boats pass by. It was also very peaceful.
Cons: A lift to the different floors if possible.
Location: The location was ideal for travelling to different places on the canal. Also ideal for shopping and site seeing famous buildings and landmarks.
After the initial hiccup of being put in a double room because a single room was unavailable, plus the fact that, when I did move to the single room the following day, the air conditioning was not working. However, it was fixed for me and it turned out to be a very pleasant stay. My room was very comfortable with good facilities. There was an excellent choice of food at breakfast and the staff there were excellent and very attentive.

Good Location

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Hotel located in a good place near the Grand Canal and Rialto bridge. Hotel was pleasant and staff were nice. Our room (330) was a little on the small side but had everything we needed. Breakfast choice was not extensive but was good.

Best place to experience Venice! If you want to get away from the crowds, overlooking the grand canal, in a spacious room, this is THE place to stay!

excellent location on grand canal

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: position on the canal. Lovely light sunny breakfast room.
Cons: general decor could do with an upgrade.
Location: very near waterbus stop, restaurants, shops.
very dark room with low level lights, small windows opening onto side alley but apart from this the room was large and comfortable with satellite television.

Historic beauty right on the Grand Canal

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Amazing 14th century architecture directly on the Venice Grand Canal. Because of her vintage era, there was no elevator. We were on the 3rd floor, and stairs were quite steep, but the partial view from our room was great. Staff was pleasant and accommodating, and we had a very pleasant stay in one of the world's most amazing cities.

Right on grand canal with deck on water

Great stay. Close to major attractions. Water taxi more expensive but worth it for convenience to get to hotel. No elevator so if you don't like stairs get room on first floor.

Location on Grand Canal was the best part

Posted Jul 1, 2014
We checked in at 9 pm and the clerk was bothered that he had to help us because he was doing something else. He also was on duty when we checked out early in the morning and again huffed and puffed because he had to multi task. The day staff was much friendlier. Our room overlooked the Grand Canal, which was great. As with all hotels in Venice, this hotel was very old but not too clean. A tray with used glasses and an empty wine bottle sat out in the upstairs sitting room all three days we were there. Breakfast was poor compared to the three other hotels that we stayed in on this Italy trip. Not much choice, especially if you eat healthy. Dining room is small and you may have to wait to get in. There seems to be nicer hotels in the same location.
