Budget hotel in central Venice

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Staff was very nice and helpful and the location of the hotel was excellent, very near to S. Marco square, the price was way lower than equivalent locations.

Good Location

Posted May 24, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: uncomfortable beds, sink in room not working
Location: walking distance to everything
The best thing this hotel has going for it is its location, and thats about it. Its only 5 minutes to San Marco, as well as the Rialto Bridge. The sound from the street carries so its noisy in the room while people are out. The bed is very uncomfortable, theres no sugar coating it. We had shared bathrooms which was okay for the most part. We had a sink in our room which didn't work so that was annoying. Basically the only positive I have for this place is location, everything else is not good. So it depends on whats more important to you, comfort or location.

16th Century Building with in a noisy room

Posted May 21, 2014
Pros: Staff were friendly, bathroom was small but clean and had a bidet.
Cons: Double glazing of the window facing the courtyard or void.
Location: Sam Marco is just 10 minutes walk along shop lined lanes and streets. Easy walking distance (5 minutes) to restaurants at St Angelo Piazza.
Staff were pleasant to us but as we check-in we were confronted by an angry couple checking out telling us not to stay here. Apparently they were upset about having to pay the room tax in cash. Undaunted we were early and the offer was made to check our bags while we went sightseeing. We later checked-in and advised of all the administrative arrangements. The room was very small, had a private bathroom (very clean) and a window opening onto a courtyard or void. This made the room very noisy even when the window was closed as conversations from a kitchen below bounced straight into the room. Thin walls made it easy to hear conversations in the next room. Could have been just that room Location: Excellent only 10 minutes walk from San Marco along lanes lined with all sorts of shops and food outlets and only two minutes to the Vaporetto (Waterbus) pontoon at Giglio. Great location, friendly staff but a small and noisy room made us rate this hotel down.

Cheap obstinate owner lady and uncomfortable sleep

Posted Apr 9, 2014
They have no double beds and the available matteresses are cheap and have springs coming out which are sure to bite you while even lying down, but you slowly discover that's a theme with this entire property in form of the light fittings, hot water being switched off after 10 am, poor plumbing all over(room sink not working), etc. The doors are made of cardboard it seems. We could hear a couple murmuring in the lobby from our room.. Guess that works both ways. Ah.. And you have to lock the door everytime with a key to keep it shut. There was literally an earthquake every time someone came in or left the property, due to the poor quality of construction. The owner is aware yet too proud and obstinate about all this as she believes it to be a prime location, which it certainly is not. Its in a narrow street about 15 mins from San Marco and 7 mins from the nearest loony vaporetto stop Giglio with only one waterbus plying. Just pick any other property, and you've already done much better than San Maurizio

Great location, lovely staff

Posted Apr 2, 2014
Our room was perfect for the price. The hotel staff were always kind and helpful and it is very easy to locate. The cleanliness of the shared bathrooms weren't great but it was more down to the people staying and water for showering gradually got colder. Noise from doors opening and closing was a bit irritating but the room was comfortable and spacious. Overall we enjoyed our stay and woupd recommend as a good budget place to stay as the rest of your time in Venice will bled you dry of your cash!!

Mediocre Rooms

Posted Nov 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
WAY overpriced for what you pay. The mattresses were stiff and the blankets felt like paper. When my sister and i asked for what nightlife there was in Venice he pointed to us hard rock cafe...not helpful at all!

Passable only

Posted Oct 4, 2013
Pros: The shared bathrooms were spacious and clean
Cons: The bedroom needed work - the mattress and sink particularly.
Location: Good location - central to everything.
Although I booked several similar hotels across Italy, this was the most expensive and the most disappointing. Beds in poor shape with broken mattress, non-working sink, 2 of 3 lights burned out. It was clean and the several shared bathrooms were adequate.
