Fantastic hotel in the heart of Venice!

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Pros: The breakfast was, by far, the best we have ever had in Venice. The courtyard setting was perfect.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Approximately 200 metres from St Mark's Square, a short walk to Rialto Bridge, Academia Bridge and several vaporetta stops on the Grand Canal.
This was a perfect hotel for us - traditional, family owned, fantastic location, wonderful restaurant and excellent breakfast served in a beautiful courtyard setting. The only slight criticism would be that the standard room which we had booked was a wee bit on the small side. However, we have stayed in several hotels in Venice in the past, and small rooms are not uncommon. This is a terrific hotel and we will be staying there again on our next visit to Venice.

Your Average Italy Hotel

Posted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: It was unique. It makes you feel like you are in a movie...possibly a scary one. Ha!
Cons: Air conditioning.
Location: San Marco square is very close along with nice shops. BEST ADVICE: Take the 1-line water bus.
It's difficult to compare as I have not been to any other hotels in Venice. I would say this one is definitely more boutique-like. They have a wonderful restaurant and they offer a free boat ride which I think is very nice. Staff was friendly but did not give out the best restaurant/food recommendations. We did eat at the hotel's restaurant which I must admit, could be one of the nice places to eat in Venice if you want to get a way from tourist traps. We enjoyed San Marco Square and sat outside while all of the bands played around the square. Venice is generally more quiet by night but also very romantic. The one issue I had which is not relative to the hotel are all of the street men selling bags...they are awful and I really wish the city would do something about them.

very convenient location.

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: staff was very nice and the location is very convenient.
Cons: breakfast definitely. Rooms need to be cleaner - especially the bathrooms. a queen size mat is needed for the queen size bed, not two small sized mats
Location: very close to public transportation, san marco square and nice shops and restaurants.
overall good, would recommend it. a bit overpriced for the quality of room but the location is worth it. The daily complementary tour to Murano island was a pleasent gesture

Outstanding hotel

Posted Jun 5, 2014
Pros: Outstanding staff and facilities
Location: Conveniently located off the vaporetto, walking distance to many restaurants and sights.
Outstanding hotel in this price range. Hotels in Venice are generally expensive. For the money, we had an outstanding experience: staff and facilities. I would stay there again.

Shabby Sheik

Posted May 24, 2014
Pros: The shabby sheik decorum. Location. Friendly staff.
Cons: The TV system. It could use CNN
Location: Central location. Harry's Bar about four blocks away as is St Marks Plaza with the bell tower, clock tower and palace.
Great Hotel! In the heart of a lot of action. Super restaurant on site. Breakfast is okay. Dinner is an extraordinary experience.

A few days in Venice

Posted May 11, 2014
Not the cheapest hotel but almost outstanding. The food, the staff, the location are excellent. The only drawback - our window was left open by the cleaner and we were bitten at night. Annoying, but everything else was near perfect. Would heartily recommend!

What a wonderful hotel!

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Cons: The aircon in our room wasn't hugely effective.
Location: Great location for St Marks Sq
After much deliberation we finally settled on the Saturnia as it looked good on the pictures and was in the right area for us (a minute from St Mars Sq). There's hundreds of hotels in Venice and it's sometimes difficult to get a true impression from other websites - but we needn't have worried, the Saturnia was amazing! The Hotel is well located, the decor throughout is excellent and our room was great too (view and aircon only slight niggles)... But what set the Saturnia apart for us was the fantastic staff, they couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful at any and every opportunity. We won't look any further than the Saturnia the next time we visit Venice - highly recommended!
