This hotel was so charming, comfortable and clean. The location was so convenient - located 5 minutes from the train and bus stations, water taxi, many restaurants and shops yet it was quiet and secure in it's side alley. I absolutely loved everything about it.

Our bathroom, frig and room were both grungy and dirty. No amenities. Both staff people were friendly. It worked for what we needed which was a place for a short night, close to the train station.

The rooms and hotel were clean and well decorated. The breakfast served contained a mix of fruit, bread, cereal, and a small serving of meat and cheese. The only negative was that both mornings, we were woken up around 7/7:30 by the hallways being cleaned. Not able to sleep in late!

The Hotel was conveniently located to the train station and parking. It was also about a 20 min walk to most attractions. However many of the buildings of Venice are older and this one was no exception.

Very easy to reach without any bridges to cross specially if one has heavy luggage. In the midst of a bustling activity yet very quiet and has a lovely garden in which to breakfast in summer. Easy to reach vaporetto stops. Room was comfortable and quiet at night and air conditioning worked very well in this heatwave. Good WiFi.. Decor a little tired and some public areas could be updated. Staff very friendly and helpful

The garden out back is beautiful and quiet. The location is incredible and easy to access. The owners are awesome. The property is a little shabby, but so are most mid-priced hotels in Europe.

I stayed one night on my arrival. The staff was friendly the location was excellent the room was quiet but the mattress was uncomfortable and need updating. It’s good value.

Convenient and comfortable
One of the reasons I selected this hotel was it had rooms for 3 people within a short walk of the station. It was very convenient when you located it down a street (alley). It is hard to move luggage far in Venice with the stone streets and bridges and the bridges will th steps so this hotel was easy to get too. Also because ng close to the train station means close to shops/supermarket and ferrys. Hotel is clean and quiet with a nice breakfast.

Almost a Hidden Gem
The hotel was in good condition, and staff were very friendly. Our room was situated right next to the alley and where they serve breakfast. Starting at 7am it was extremely noisey with employees clashing plates and people on the street. The room itself was very clean.

Nice place to stay at a good price
This is an older style hotel. The room was clean but very old fashion looking. Our bathroom had half a shower door missing but otherwise the room was good for a night. It included a simple breakfast. The staff was amazing though! Helped us with our luggage up the stairs and spoke great English. Overall, I would stay there again if I was looking to not spend a lot on a room in Venice.

The hotel was ok, room was basic but clean, The restaurant was a disaster, The seating area is in a canopy at the back of the hotel. The continental breakfast was not good, not fresh, and definitely not worth eating. The meats and cheeses came straight from the kitchen, and they were not nice. The hotel is in a great location. Could be a lot better.

Venice stay.
Location 3 mins from station. Let you leave bags after check out until you left for the train. Immediate access to public transport - boats and station. Included breakfast was great lots of choices. WIFI WORKED FINE AND AC. Staff very helpful. Location quiet side street but after 100 yds right into tourist pathway and shops. Boat to St Marks about 20 mins with stops 20 min walk. Would absolutely stay there again.

They will keep your bags if you come early or leaving after check out. The staff is very friendly. The room is poor looking. The walls should be painted. The bed is uncomfortable. However they treat you so nice, you don't mind the room. Good for 1 to 3 days.

Bed, wifi and awesome location. Breakfast was a shocker! Fairly aggressive matron shouts "ham and cheese!" as soon as you walk into the gazebo / breakfast room. Ham is the sweaty 3% pork stuff you get from Asda. Overall, this place does the job.

Nice hotel, very close to the station.
The room was as we expected, very small with a seperate private bathroom. Breakfast was simple but nice. The main complaint we had was that the hotel was quite small so that you could easily hear others in the morning. In particular if felt like the staff would start making noise (including sometimes talking loudly) around 7.15am.

il mercante di venezia is one of the very good hotels in venice, the staff is super friendly, their price is decent, service is good. they were very helpful to send me back my passport by train to Rome when i left it in the safe there and did all the arrangements for it.

Room was too hot and it wasn't in our control to turn heating down. It was described as soundproof rooms but we could hear every single word of people talking in next room as well as staff shouting in front of our window from 7 am. We received email saying that all taxes and fees were included but we still had to pay when we were leaving(they just forgot to inform us about it when we were checking in).

The place is in a great location, the room was clean and the staff were friendly. However, I the double economy room was extremely small and the bathroom was outside of the room. I don't know about their other rooms, but I wouldn't recommend this room.

Great deal
We arrived late and had to walk down a dark/narrow street to find the hotel. Once there we were shown a large room with another room off of it. The main room had a day bed and the room in the back had a double. Cute antique furniture. The only downside is the room was right by the kitchen that they used to wash the dishes from breakfast so it was very loud very early. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. The hotel area was completely different once daylight. Super cute and busy. Great place close to the main train station.

Walls are not soundproof!
Expectations were not met...reviews and pictures online were very different than what the hotel offered. It was not in a great location, it was dirty, it smelled like mould, and it was far down a sketchy looking alley. We were unaware that there would be an external washroom (detached from our room), so when we got there we had a very small room and washroom across the hall. Thankfully they "upgraded" us to a larger room with washroom attached, which was right behind the reception and next to the breakfast area. The walls are NOT soundproof. They charged 30 euros for the 2 night upgrade. The lady at the desk was a pleasure to work with and was the hotel's only pro.

Anyway, you should double check your reservation details where you will find that the room booked was an Economy room with External Bathroom. It was written that the bathroom was detached. After checking-in you asked us to change room. Unfortunately on that day we had no other "better" options than the one located on the ground floor. It was a last minute solution but you agreeded to pay a surcharge for that. Anyway, thank you for staying with us. We hope you will be able to visit us again to experience our Hotel at its best. Issue with AC
The only real issue was that the AC would not work and they told me there no other rooms available. First world problem but I was expecting to come back to a nice cool room after walking around for 7 hours; it was was quite disappointing. Also nothing was offered as compensation for a missing major service that was a big part of chosing this hotel. I assume it has to do with booking through this site instead of booking directly. The hotel seems to have its hands tied. There was also a little mold on the bathroom wall that needs to get cleaned up. Ventilation can be an issue in these older properties.
