“Pleasant and inexpensive”

This hotel was a very good value. It was pleasant and clean. The best part was the friendly, uncrowded location. There were no crowds or pigeons, and the locals were very nice. There is not much food available at night, so plan accordingly. We found good sandwiches, wine, etc. at small corner markets, but there were no open restaurants with table service in the evening. The shower was great!

“Nice if you don't want to be in Venice”

This hotel is great and a good price if you don't want to be right in Venice. We did, and each time I had to pay approximately 30 euros to get there (5 people). In the end I probably could have found a place in Venice for 30 euros more and not have to spend time traveling back and forth. Also, breakfast was not all that great, not bad but could be a little better.

“Absolutely Perfect!!”

The Locanda Conterie is located in Murano, a small island near Venice known for its local glassblowers. Its a very quiet island, perfect to get away from the noise and congestion of the city and to have some romantic evening walks. To get to Venice, its only a 5 minute water taxi ride (5 euro day, noone checks for tickets at night). Someone is there at the desk 24 hours if you need anything. If I go back, I will stay there again.

“Second stay here and very pleased.”

Murano, to me, is much more relaxing than Venice - and definitely not as expensive. And this hotel is convenient to everything. I prefer to stay on Murano and buy a 7-day waterbus pass to have access to anything you would have if you stayed in Venice. This is my 2nd year staying at this small, quiet hotel and I find the staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but nicely appointed. No English TV stations but it is nice to have a vacation without TV. Breakfast is adequate and comparable to most small hotels. There is one "pay by the hour" computer available. The hotel is 2 blocks off main canal and a block further to a waterbus station. There is a nice grocery store/deli on the way to the canal to buy cold foods and further save money if on a budget. I felt very safe walking at night in this neighborhood. I expect I will return again next year.

“A great way to stay in Venice”

If you want to visit Venice, but have a refuge outside the bustle of the city, Hotel Conterie is ideal. It is located on the island of Murano, famous for its glass, and only a 10 minute boat ride away from the main island of Venice. The hotel is clean, friendly, and comfortable. I stayed there before, and will stay there again during my next visit.

“Quiet, Clean, Charming”

The vaporetta DID run after 9 PM contrary to another review. It only took 15 minutes to get here from the Fond. Nuove stop (which is where we always got the boat to Murano. There is a COOP store near this hotel and it is cheaper to buy soda and snacks there. We loved this hotel and would stay there again. It is a great price and not too far out of the way.

“Quaint hotel, great value, highly recommend”

Venice/Murano was the last leg of 12 days in Italy and was the perfect spot to wind down before heading home. The hotel was absolutely charming and the staff was very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water (not always the case traveling in Europe). Only negative was the "continental" breakfast, but that can be overcome by a morning stroll to the nearby market for some baked goods and fruit. Would highly recommend "IF" you're looking for peace and quiet in an authentic Italian setting.

“A gem of a hotel”

A great hotel on the quiet island of Morono, a ten minute boat-bus ride from Venice. The only issue (as is often the case) is that the walls are very thin and you can hear others in the next room. I would recomend ear plugs.

“Cute small hotel on Murano”

We stayed at this hotel for one night before returning to the US from Italy. The hotel is great with a nice courtyard and great rooms. The only drawback is that there are very few restaurants open for dinner on Murano.
