Palazzo SelvadegoPosted Nov 25, 2013
Location: So close to San Marco and water busses to everywhere else.
Our five night stay at the Palazzo Selvadego was comfortable and the staff were attentive and helpful. We stayed in the annex. We stayed in room 522 - perhaps it could be a little noisy in the the summer months. You will be given a key to the outer door. There are two rooms hear - both sharing an outer door that leads into the hallway. Beware if this outer door closes accidentally (it should be left wedged open) as you will need someone to open it for you. This happened to us but this was only a small problem and was dealt with promptly. In every other respect we were quite happy with our room even though we had no view to speak of - but who needs a view when you are right next to such beautiful buildings in such a magical city! We even managed to make ourselves breakfast after a bit of forward planning. During Autumn and spring there are flood tides, so take some waterproofs or you can purchase light weight foot coverings from one of the many shops. We departed during the floods and were escorted through the dry areas of the Hotels by the staff to the Vaporettos close by in Piazza San Marco, and then enjoyed our final trip up the Grand canal to the bus station (but no.5) to the Airport. Note: that its also important to ring the hotel and specify the room you require before you travel.

Wonderful hotel, great location, difficult to findPosted Sep 10, 2013
Cons: There does need to be better signage and/or directions. Even employees of the adjoining store were unaware that the hotel existed!
Once we found the hotel, the experience was terrific. Close to everything and a wonderful breakfast on the Grand Canal to boot. Very pleased

10 feet from St. Mark's Square!Posted Sep 2, 2013
Pros: Closeness to St. Mark's Square.
Cons: Room service and Internet in the room.
Location: Everything you want in Venice is nearby.
Nice boutique hotel. Rooms are very small (typical of Venice), but bathroom was modern and you can tell that the hotel went through a remodel relatively recently. The best feature of the hotel is its proximity to St. Mark's Square - literally 10 feet away and you are there. No room service - you have to stay in its parent hotel Monaco for that. Would have opted for Monaco hotel, but it was $200 more a night. Selvadego is a great budget option in an amazing location.

Good place to stay, if you are on your ownPosted Aug 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
I liked the hotel, the staff was very nice and helpful. However it was very confusing on where to check-in and at 2:30 in the morning it was not ideal to try to locate it, not having a smartphone that worked in Europe. I had mapped out where the hotel was, but having a map in Venice does not always mean you can find something easily. Also having to go back a forth between Hotel Monaco and Palazzo Selvadego just to check-in and out is a little bit of a pain, luckily I had plenty of time. I was by myself and felt very comfortable and safe all around the area, even though it is very dark. The Palazzo itself is in a very quiet area, even though it is near all of the action.

Ok hotel. Great location.Posted Aug 18, 2013
Cons: Bedding Internet
The hotel was ok and in a great location right off main square on San Marco. For me Internet access was important and it did not work well. Also bed and sheets were cheap and not comfortable. Overall I'd probably pick a different hotel unless location was my only criteria.

Bright happy hotelPosted Aug 9, 2013
This hotel is very central to Venise. We arrived by boat from the airport which cost a fair bit but was that enjoyable we did it again when we left the hotel. The staff are very helpful and the room a delight and very airy.
