Beautiful hotelPosted Mar 28, 2015
This hotel was right of the Ca d'oro water taxi station. It was a very charming hotel that is walking distance to the main attractions. Our room was larger than we expected, with high ceilings and a king size bed. The bathroom was very clean with a full size shower. Our room came with complimentary breakfast. The breakfast had a fairly large selection of cheeses, meats, pastries, cereals, and fruits. They also have an espresso/coffee machine. The hotel is a 10 min walk to the realto bridge, and 15 min walk to st marks square. But the area itself has nice restaurants/gelato/souvenir shops. You're also right across the street from Ca' d'oro Palace. I would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic locationPosted Mar 24, 2015
This was the first time my boyfriend and I went to Venice, and what a beautiful place it is. We arrived at Tronchetto via the Barzi bus (18 euro return each...bargain), bought a 3 day waterbus pass and off we went. The hotel would have been really easy to find (take line 2 from tronchetto, change at Piazzale Roma or Ferrovia for Line 1 and then it takes you right outside the hotel at station Ca'D'oro) but we couldn't get off the bus at Ferrovia as was really busy as we were at the back of the bus. This wasn't a huge issue and we really didn't mind, we ended up getting off at another station and walked to the hotel. Check in time is 2pm but we got there early, checked in and left our luggage at reception, and off we went to explore the beautiful Venice. We returned to the hotel in the evening and our bags were in the room. The room was stunning, we had the superior queen bed room, it was a good size, lovely and clean, the bathroom was lovely and clean too, the bed comfortable. We had breakfast which was ok, could have done with a bigger selection. The overall stay was perfect, and the hotel is in a great location. We done a lot of walking and exploring and it seemed everything was really close together and within walking distance. We walked to San Marco which took 10-15 mins. We got lost a few times as Venice is quite a maze, so get yourself a map (we had one but still got lost). Enjoy your stay, you will love it :)

Bonito hotel, bien ubicadoPosted Mar 18, 2015

A very pleasant ornate hotel, excellent locationPosted Feb 28, 2015
Pros: Friendly helpful staff, very comfortable, and in an excellent location on a central part of the Grand Canal.
Cons: The few niggles mentioned above could have been corrected as a matter of course, probably pointed out by house keeping. Tea / coffee in room.
Location: Central Grand Canal, Ca d'Oro, 2 stops to Rialto, 15mins on foot. Strada Nuova shops and restaurants 20 steps away. Rest of Venice on door step !
Arrived at midday and checked in with no problems at all. Hotel was easy to find being immediately behind the Ca d'Oro waterbus stop. We were initially given a lovely spacious room with overlooking the garden with a view of the Grand Canal. However the room was hot and was also at the side of the hotel on the narrow alleyway between the waterbus stop and Strada Nuova. This meant that at times it was quiet noisy if the windows were open. We enquired whether it would be possible to move, but unfortunately apart from a room free on the 4th floor and facing the rear with no view, no other rooms would be available until the following night. The next day we chose another room away from the alleyway, quieter, still overlooking the garden and Canal. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout, and even moved our bags for us whilst we were out. All rooms have a reasonably priced mini-bar, television, queen-sized bed, safe for valuables, comfy seats, wifi (very slow). Overall very comfortable. A few niggles were: broken shower holder (fixed quickly), pop-up sink plug not working, missing wardrobe door handle, broken temperature control plate, no tea/coffee facilities in room. Breakfast was taken in the bar area and was a very satisfactory buffet style. Hot drinks, juices, cold meats and cheeses, hot scrambled eggs / bacon / frankfurter sausage, warmed croissants, fruit, muesli, yoghurt, cake etc... Would happily go back again.

Nice hotel, shame about the breakfastPosted Feb 24, 2015
A pretty nice hotel... good location, clean, quiet, and staff seemed reasonable enough. The shower in our room was a little tired and it lacked a few luxuries - no bathrobes for example. Overall though I'd say the rooms were clean and comfortable and that's all you can really hope for. However, the breakfast can only be described as awful. Stale croissants and bread (no jams/spreads), greasy cheap slices of meat and cheese, tepid milk to go on your awful museli, tasteless cakes, cold frankfurter sausages and wet scrambled eggs, weird concentrate orange juice from a machine, and the vending machine instant coffee was simply disgusting. You could do a lot worse than stay at this hotel, but if you want a nice breakfast and you're unwilling to go out to find it, stay elsewhere.
