Rooms
The Residenza Cannaregio, Venice, offers 64 guestrooms and suites in a two-story building (no elevator) with an interior garden courtyard. Contemporary decor includes furniture with leatherette tops, blue-leatherette chairs, and warm faux-wood trim—all blending with original 17th-century features such as pale-brick accents and rustic beamed ceilings. Contemporary bathrooms include heated towel racks and shower/tub combinations or stall showers without tubs.
Internet connections and television Internet access via wireless keyboards are available (surcharges). Pay movies provide entertainment. Windows open for views of either the garden courtyard or the canal adjoining the hotel.
Room Amenities
Recreation
The Lido of Venice, the slender, 11.5-km (7.25-mile-long) island facing the Adriatic Sea that lies a 30-minute waterbus ride from the hotel, is the city's playground, especially in summer. Year-round, visitors rent bicycles to explore the island, play golf, or take horseback rides. Aside from fishing in the canals, the central city offers nothing in the way of recreational opportunities. Deep-sea fishing is available in the Adriatic Sea.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

“a bit out of the way, but a hidden gem”
The hotel was near the edge of the water, however only a few minutes walk from the vaporetto stop which took us to the train station or the airport ... The hotel is an absolute gem and very quaint and pretty ... We had a loft as our room which was very different ... The breakfast was very good ans lasted until 11 o'clock which gave us the opportunity of not too rush in the morning !!! well worth the distance from the train station and the neighbourhood is absolutely amazing with lots of shops and restaurants .... you won't be disappointed !!!
“Old and dated rooms! Beware!! Not what you expect out of a "4 star"”
Rooms are EXTREMELY dated! Even with the upgraded rooms that had canal views. Every surface in the room is either chipped or scratched. The cheap laminate on its surfaces show signs of bubbling. There were several big patches of visible stains on the bed cover. Pillows feels like they are at least 10 years old and are completely flat giving you zero neck support. The furniture is extremely cheap looking with a hideous 1980s pleather seat. I have seen better motel 6 for a fraction of the price. The first room we had only possessed a tiny window to the canal. After complaining they gave us a room that had 2 larger windows. Still with the new room it was incredibly depressing. After coming from a fabulous 4 star (Hotel Lunetta) in Rome this was a slap in the face; at a higher price to boot! It was so bad we checked out after 1 night and booked another room at Starhotels Spendid Venice. Which definitely felt like a better hotel. Beware of the hotel rankings in Venice, everything in the Cannaregio area seemed pretty run down (even with 4 star rankings) when we went to hunt for alternative lodging. Although the other places may be at touristy it's worth it to not have to stay in such bad rooms! I will there are better places to eat in the area but it's worth the walk to stay in better places.
“Can't wait to go back”
This was a spacious room. The staff was great!!! They helped with everything from recommending a great restraunt to getting us a water taxi at 5:30 AM so we could make our flight. The water buses do not run that early so we choose to take the taxi ( approx 100 euros) for a family of 4 and 8 bags. This is a delayed review, we stayed in Feb of this year. I have recommended this hotel to several friends going to Venice. Already planning next years return and will definately be staying here agian.!!!!! Breakfeast was one of the best and had lots of choices.
“First time in Venice”
Overall this was a nice hotel. The staff was helpful and were multi-lingual. The hotel is definitely off the beaten path so if you stay there expect to walk a lot. Amenities: All of the basic amenities where as described. - Breakfast was not bad. - The hotel garden was very nice and had plenty of seating. - The hotel bar was small but had a nice selection. - Complementary wifi was only available in the lobby, access from the room cost extra. - Television was horrible, only 8 channels worked and the only English channel was a 24 hour news channel. From what I saw this hotel was in line with most others in Venice. Due to the tight real estate in Venice none of the hotels seem to be large sprawling properties. Tip: go with with the low key restaurants. Most of the flashy restaurants where expensive and served generic food.
“Can't Wait to Return to Venice!”
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous on the outside(the gardens especially) as well as their interiors. The complimentary breakfast is filled with delicious cereals, cheeses, croissants, fruit, eggs, and coffee, tea or even hot chocolate. The bartender who's name is Mohammed is wonderful and quite the skilled mixologist. The front desk couldn't be nicer, especially the woman Oxnen. Situated in the 6th district, Canneregio, we were away from the tourist throngs and yet very close to the St. Alvise vaporetta which got us around the city with ease and punctuality in the schedules. Or walk...so very close to all major attractions. I am looking forward to our return trip and I hope it's very soon!
“Like it a lot!!!”
Beatiful hotel
“A gem in the Jewish Ghetto of Venice”
Hotel Residenza Cannaregio was the perfect hotel for our trip. The location made was walking distance to the train station (from which we traveled to Verona and Rome) and close to two ferry stations. The accommodations were spacious; we booked a Junior Suite (for 3 adults), which had 2 levels and a large bathroom. The reservation also came with hands down the best continental breakfast I have ever had! (I'd go back for that alone). The staff was always friendly and helpful - providing directions and restaurant recomendations.
“Quiet in Venice”
Away from the tourist crouds , but right in the heart of Venice , nice and quite area , only a Vaporetto distance from everything else
“A 4 Star hotel only if a Motel 6 is also a 4 star hotel.”
This is not a 4-star hotel. I would be curious to find out how it became listed as one. The service was fine, no complaints there. The breakfast was good. The room was terrible. My wife and I are extremely low maintenance. We never complain about anything. At this place, we got to our room, sat there for a few minutes depressed with how much we were paying for this place, then walked door to door at other hotels hoping to find one that had a cancellation so we could move over there. Complaints about the room (a few off the top of my head): - Marks, smears, stains ALL OVER the walls. I'm not talking scuffs from carrying luggage or marks down by the baseboards, these are disgusting, unidentifiable smears at various heights on the walls. Like somebody used the walls for the personal napkin over a period of several weeks. - The furniture is old and falling apart. The "desk" had obviously been wet for an extended period of time and the laminate was bubbling off and peeling away. - The shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor. Not just a little bit. - The "satellite TV" that they hyped as a great system consists of about 10 channels on a 15 or so inch dinosaur. - The heated towel rack, another big selling feature of this "4 star" place, didn't work. - The tile in the bathroom was mildewy and cracked. I tried to write many more, but it told me my review was too long.
“nice quiet place”
air condition did not work properly eventhough they had someone to check it up.

Cannaregio, Venice, Italy: For visitors arriving by rail or by bus, Cannaregio is Venices front door and the start of the Grand Canal. It sees a lot of passing traffic in terms of canal boats and visitors en route to San Marco, but is otherwise quieter and less touristy than central Venice.
