“no free shuttle”
The web site said that they had a free shuttle to the airport which was the main reason we booked it. The shuttle cost 10 euros per person for a five minute ride to Maro Polo Airport. The shuttle driver took in 40 euros from four passengers for five minutes of work. The desk manager refused to believe that the web site said it was free. The hotel was clean enough but basic. More a two star than a four star. No place to eat. Because of its rural location we had to walk several blocks to find a small cafe.
“Transportation costs”
We booked this hotel to be near the airport; the taxi fare was 27 euros, so with the tip it cost 30 euros. The following morning, the fare from the hotel to the airport (a very short distance) was another 15 euros. It would have been better to have stayed in Mestre and paid only once to go directly to the airport.
“Good out of city hotel - but neighborhood not outstanding”
The Venice Resort is a great place to stay, if you want to be out of the city. Convenient to the airport, convenient to bus lines into Venice, and the staff of the resort are fantastic. But one must realize however that the term resort is just a name - no pool, no spa, and no on site restaurant. The resort does serve a typical Italian breakfast which was great, and there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance of the resort. For some Americans, the walk to restaurants and the bus line, along Italian roads with no sidewalk, might be considered a bit "hair raising", especially at night. Having said all of this, we would use the Venice Resort again without question. Just a word of warning, keep 25-30 Euros cash for the taxie to the airport.
“Terrible way to start a vacation...”
The single room I had is typical of most of the "quaint" hotels I have stayed in Italy. Very small room, few amenities, and extremely small shower stalls. It is located less an one mile from the airport and still the taxi drivers may charge up to 25 Euro for the trip, but it is close enough that you can walk to the airport to catch the water taxis into Venice or to the other islands for sightseeing. There is also a very good Italian restaurant just down the street from the hotel, and the hotel has a nice breakfast available each morning. I would not stay here again because I found the staff very rude. At one point I mentioned that I was having trouble logging onto the wifi service and the desk attendant took my netbook away from me, fiddled for few minutes, and then handed it back to me and said "now you can go away". While having a drink on the patio with other hotel guests in the early evening, someone on the staff decided to mow the lawn, causing us to have to shout over the noise, and stirring up mosquitos so that we were all bitten so badly that we had to leave. I spent the first five days of my vacation on antihistamines and cortizone because of the more than 30 moquito bites.
“Convenient Walk to Marco Polo Airport”
I stayed here on my last night in Venice so that I would be close to the airport for my early morning flight. Many of the reviews on here say that it is not easy to walk to the airport from here... that is totally wrong. It's less than half a mile from the airport terminal. It's true that there are sections along the road where there are no actual sidewalks, but walking on the shoulder was not difficult nor did it feel dangerous. That said, my main piece of luggage was a 22" Eagle Creek suitcase that has zip-away backpack straps so instead of using it as a roller case, I put it on my back and it was a piece of cake to walk to the airport, and I saved 10 Euros that the hotel would charge to drive me such a short distance. Believe me, it was so easy. The hotel staff spoke English well and was courteous. My single room was pretty tiny, but clean. Didn't try the bus service at all, nor the morning breakfast at the hotel. I would definitely stay here again on my last night in Venice just for the convenience factor to the airport and the price was right.
“Great location near the airport”
The rooms are clean and are more like a new comforatable apartment, but with out kitchen. 5 to 6 people can sleep comfortable in the room, yet the room was not available on expedia for more then 3 guest. The receiprionist was extremly friendly and helpful, My stay was short overnight to get the next plain out. Hotel is conveniently located for my purpose.
“Cutest hotel ever!”
I just needed to stay overnight in venice for my early flight at the Marco Polo airport. This hotel was super cute, clean and extremely close to the airport not to mention a very decent price!
“Chill Out!”
I would recommend this hotel to someone who knows Venice and the surrounding areas well. This is a good locaton for someone who wants to live like a native, this is not a good location for the average tourist. Although there is good public transportation within walking ( 5 min.walk) distance you really need a car to travel after dark or in case of rain. It is far from the transportation hub in Mestre, (a 20 Euro cab ride, or 25 minutes by bus ride). This is not a RESORT, it is more like a small B&B on a country road. It is clean, quiet and the staff is friendly. This is a good place to rest. This is not a place for small children because there is nothing for them to do and the noise they make would be a distraction for the other guests. this is absolutely not a place for teens.
“Condescending staff”
Upon arrival, the reception staff was rude, condescending and unhelpful! The younger guy with spikey hair and the waitress lady at breakfast were the only friendly ones there. I agree that the ride to the airport is a ripoff, when I booked the shuttle, I was told it would be 16 euros (already expensive) and the next day they changed it to 25 euros "for three persons". I went to reception to politely ask if someone could help me haul my language down the stairs, he replied he had no one to help, as if he could not help me himself!! Too bad the rooms were actually pretty cool, modern looking and outdoors very relaxing. 20min bus ride to Venice.
“Convenient”
Hotel staff was great, hotel conveniently located to airport and within walking distance to restaurants. Nicely decorated with all conveniences, except for coffee pot, but they had a coffee bar that made up for it!
