Pleasant hotel ideally placed for access to Venice

Posted Jun 5, 2015
Pros: Location, staff and general atmosphere
Cons: Menu for evening meals needs to change more often. Need to repair coffee machine for breakfasts.
Location: Close to Vaporetta stop. Nearby supermarket and plenty of cheap restaurants.
Went to Venice for Biennale. This hotel was ideal, just a couple of 100 metres from the vaporetta landing place, with a lovely restaurant looking across to Venice, and excellent friendly staff.

Hotel accueillant, vue exceptionnelle sur la lagune

Posted Jun 1, 2015

Staff was very solicitous and very friendly.

Posted May 16, 2015
Pros: The suite I was in was great and had a lot of character. The hotel is located on an island where you can get in a nice 8 mile run along the sea
Cons: provide irons/ironing boards in the rooms
Location: some shops, restaurants, beautiful walking and running routes along water on both sides, hotel is right near the boat launch for vapporetta service
I arrived after multiple delays and re-routings from New England in the US - 27 hours to get to Venice from CT! So, I was tired and worried about getting my taxi and called the staff at the hotel who had already arranged for a taxi for me and, when it took the taxi driver a long time to get me to their hotel, called me back to make sure I was OK. They had vapporetta schedules and gave me good advice about which one to take and when the boats left. They gave me advice about where running routes were. They were very friendly and warm. The dining room is charming and the view is gorgeous. The food was excellent - both breakfast and dinner. They supplied a water heater and instant coffee in the room as well as a hair dryer in the bathroom. There is no iron or ironing board in the room as a word of warning although this is not unusual in older European hotels it seems.

Excellent location on Lido.

Posted May 15, 2015
Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: Breakfast and noise.
Excellent location on the Lido and for access to Venice. Rooms with a view are good and the staff are excellent, particularly Fjorda. The rooms are good but not quiet - the first floor rooms get a lot of early morning noise from the staff below setting up breakfast and generally dragging chairs about and closing doors. For the money, the breakfast is poor - not enough fresh fruit juice or fruit and the bread and rolls were almost inedible. On the plus side, the generous measures of gin and tonic in the early evening while looking back at Venice was a pleasure and the access to the boats, water taxis, buses and restaurants was about 5 minutes. Would go back but would be picky about which room.

Nice area, and close to water taxi to quickly get to San Marcos. However, while I paid more for suite with lagoon view the rooms were very small, bed was terribly uncomfortable and bathroom a mess. The staff was friendly, especially Francisco (evening restaurant waiter). I expected older facilities, but I don't think that should translate to discomfort, given the fact that it was not one of the least expensive places to stay.

Gorgeous hotel with stunning views towards Venice

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: We loved the friendly staff, the gorgeous location and the delicious food.
Cons: Our holiday could only have been improved by upgrading to one of the suites, which have a lagoon view.
Location: The location for us was perfect - it was so peaceful to eat in the restaurant with the lovely view to Venice as the backdrop.
My partner booked our holiday in Venice to celebrate a 'big' birthday of mine...and we've just returned from a fabulous holiday. The Villa Laguna is a fantastic hotel with very friendly staff. It's also lovely being on the Lido, which is literally just 10 minutes away from main Venice by vaporetto, where you can return after a day walking around Venice to a calmer quieter place, and bask in the glory of the garden restaurant and watch Venice glowing in the glorious sunset! The view is just stunning. We pre-booked tickets for the vaporetto through Experia, but it wasn't made clear to us that the service booked was with the Alilaguna service and not the public transport (ATCV) service. It should be made clear to customers because the services are quite different. The Allilaguna is a private company that includes vaporetto transfers to the islands from the airport, and also lines to and from Venice and the other islands. We purchased a 72 hour ticket that also included a very good tour to the other islands of Murano, Burano & Torcello. So all in all good value. However the Alilaguna service doesn't run after 10.30pm and also only every half hour throughout the day. The public transport (ACTV) vaporetto service runs late into the night and every 10 minutes. So for the evenings we had to purchase additional single tickets. The cost is 7 euros, so not a big extra cost. All in all we've had a wonderful time.

Nice little hotel next to the laguna.

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Pros: The hotel has a wonderful view over the laguna at the Marcus tower. Staff was very welcoming and friendly The room was very clean and nicely furnished
Cons: Make the bed more comfortable in offering a mattress topper for a softer bed. Also fresh bred rolls for breakfast instead of those hard bake up once.
Location: Wonderful view over the laguna at the Marcus tower. Short trip with the vaporetta over to Venice. Lido has a nice main street with shops/restaurants.
I picked this hotel because it is on the island Lido, away from the hustle and bustle from Venice. The hotel has a wonderful view over the laguna at the Marcus tower. Staff was very welcoming and friendly The room was very clean and nicely furnished, but the bed was very hard, I had to use two extra duvets to get some comfort, it would be nice if the hotel had some kind of mattress topper for people who prefer it softer, they don't cost the world. I think every hotel should have some. The breakfast is continental but has lots of choice and also offers scrambled eggs, only the rolls could have been better, very hard sort off baking up rolls. I'm sure it could be improved by fresh rolls. Then it would be perfect. All in all I can recommend this Hotel for a trip to Venice.

Fijn hotel aan het water

Posted Apr 19, 2015
