Close to the beach

It met our needs nicely. I wish I would've thought about asking if there was even a bigger place. Thanks for the nice time

Quiet on a Tuesday night. Small garage for parking car. View of ocean. A little dated.

Walk to the beach

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Clean and loaded with comforts of home such as a kitchen complete with cooking tools and dishes. Also a hot tub on the private patio.
Cons: Check in and check out times are inconvenient. Of course there is no free breakfast.
Location: Walk to the beach with a lovely park. Lovely family gathering area in quad.
What a nice surprise to get a condo instead of a hotel room. Full kitchen and short walk directly to the beach made me wish we had found this jewel sooner.

THIS REALLY ISN'T A HOTEL, IT'S A VACATION RENTAL

Posted Mar 2, 2015 on Hotels
We booked the Channel Island Shores without knowing what it was. Some friends were going to a wine pairing dinner at a nearby restaurant, and the price and the fact that it was listed as a "two bedroom suite" was appealing for two couples to share. The rental is part of a time share consisting of what the person at the front desk called "some older homes," or what were previously condo-townhomes near the beach in Oxnard. The location and the two-level unit are fine for a family going to the beach for a few days, but it is not a hotel and should not be listed as such. The unit is worn, but servicable. They do not provide amenities beyond soap (we had to call because there was no bar soap in the bathroom); there is a kitchen and there is a hot tub and a grill on the patio. The "front desk" is the time share office and is open limited hours. Our experience was not terrible, but it was not very nice either. This property should not be listed with hotels - it should be listed as a vacation rental.

Good Weekend Get-away

Posted Feb 27, 2015
Pros: Our condo had a washer/dryer, dishwasher ,full refrigerator, micro-wave, barbecue and a fully stocked kitchen. It was a 1 minute walk to the beach.
Cons: Update the décor and furniture.
Location: Located in a quiet residential beach neighborhood. 3/4 mile from Mandalay beach resort. Short drive or bike ride to Oxnard or Ventura harbor areas.
Our 1 bedroom condo was very clean and comfortable. It was an upstairs unit with a 20'X20' patio with a great jacuzzi and a barbecue. It was 1/2 block from a very clean white sand beach, and an easy bike ride to restaurants and stores. These are older timeshare units( '80s) but well maintained. We will definitely go back and I would recommend to friends.

A plus plus

Excellent place! Will stay here every time we are in the area. One block to the ocean. They have a schedule of little fun things to do each day, they have beach chairs for you to borrow and the units are A plus. The staff is wonderful and accommodating.

Beware - very limited office hours

Posted Feb 18, 2015 on Hotels
We got the 2 bedroom condo which was great for a trip with the grandchildren. The problem was that there was no notification that the office closes at 5:00. When we got there at 6:00 there was no way to get in. Fortunately, they did answer the phone and were able to direct us to a lockbox which had our keys. The second problem was that we were then required to check in the next morning and the office did not open until 9:00 which forced us to cancel our plans for the day because we would arrive too late.
