“This is my 5th time to stay here....always a relaxing time.”
Great room in Building 6 - ocean view amazing. Bed very comfortable. The decor is dated, but they are remodeling. Will be back next October and can't wait to see it. Ate at the restaurant - great food. Service was a little slow - but I think my waitress also had a large party. It did not detract from my experience - I had plenty of time!
“Pretty grounds. Rooms are getting outdated and worn.”
The hotel staff is wonderful. The grounds with the meandering river and waterfalls are very peaceful. The rooms however, are getting outdated. Furniture worn and stained. Couch bed is nothing but springs, very uncomfortable. There was trash left in the fridge from previous guests. There are no screens on slider or window so you can't leave the door/window open and enjoy the sound of the ocean. The appetizers during the managers reception are terrible. No fruit or cut veggies. Not to mention they charge you $15.00 per day to park at the hotel.
“outdated and overpriced”
From the moment we drove up, the service was terrible. We couldn't even get a luggage cart because we decided to park our own car instead of using the valet. The rooms were comparable to a 1970s Motel 6. The walls are paper thin and every step that the people upstairs take, sounds like a herd of elephants. We had put a do-no-disturb sign on our door and the housekeeping lady STILL went in our room. Unacceptable. Music in the bar was nice. The service in the bar (cocktail waitresses / bartender) took forever. It actually took 35 min just to get a margarita. Breakfast buffet was nice. Plenty of food. The best part of the stay was the fact that the hotel is on the beach. Unless they reduce their rates by a lot, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Sooo not worth it. You can get the exact same thing at a cheap motel on the beach. They charge a ridiculous amount a day per computer for WiFi access. I couldn't even get cell phone reception in most of the hotel. We had to drive into town to a Starbucks to use our comp. The lobby, pool and atrium area are very pretty. Again, not worth what they charge. Wouldn't stay here again even if it was free.
“nice place to stay”
Nice place to stay with plenty of things to do. The rooms were extra large and the ocean view in our "partial ocean view" room was mostly of ocean. I was charged $10.99 for a $4.99 movie however.
“Outdated room”
If you want a hotel right on the beach with a complimentary breakfast, this is a good choice. If decor is this is not the place for you. It is very outdated and mismatching. They are schedule for a remodel thankfully. Also, the room had a smell and feel similar to a budget motel like Motel 6. The breakfast was delicious, though crowded.
“Great beach access”
The beach side location was amazing. You could just walk out the locked gate to a pristine beach with few people or you could just stay in the facility and enjoy the beautiful pool or hot tub. Best time for the pool was before noon or late evening when the screaming kids were gone. The facility seemed to be well maintained. I would recommend this place if you can afford it.
“Gone downhill in a bad way”
We've stayed here several times over the last 15 years. This year was terrible. Our room was in an old wing, poorly lit, hall entry door did not fully open due to building settling, sandbags at bottom of stairs to our wing, filthy stairway, hairs and dirt in our bathroom, candy wrappers on the outside deck, our room looked out on the service area and the generator was very loud. It seemed odd to have been put here given that the hotel was not at all full. We wondered if the poor room was given to us because we had booked on Expedia at a rate that was lower than was listed on the hotel website. At breakfast we were asked for our meal tickets, though they had not asked for at least six visitors in line before us. At least the request for tickets was friendly...but we did feel singled out.
“Very Nice Hotel”
Beautiful grounds. Great breakfast.
“Loved this place!!! Beautiful hotel!!”
This hotel was beautiful. The service was great and the hotel offered complimentary breakfast and happy hour.
“Old Hotel”
We were first put in a room with the view of a wall. After complaining, they were not full at all, they did give us a ocean front room. Would have appreciated not having to complain to get it. The rooms are old but I understnd that they are remodeling soon. Will be a great hotel after that. Managers reception was adequate but the breakfast was good. Will go back after they remodel.
