Hotel grounds are beautifulPosted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: The grounds are beautiful. I was here many years ago and the ground and the sea views were fabulous, same as I remembered. But the housekeeping?
Cons: The house keeping was not as good as I would hope in a Motel 6. There is A lot of room for improvement. When that happens, then I might return.
Location: The Channel Islands, but the staff new very little about things to do. Their suggestions were fish and go to the Channel Island.
Room floors were dirty, bath rooms both had mold. The bed was not really acceptable. When asked what to do, there was no one to provide information. Thanks to Google we found plenty on our own.

Great hotel, lovely staff, on the beachPosted Sep 13, 2014
The service at the hotel was great, however not great at the restaurant for dinner! Our server was very slow and got our order wrong as well, very disappointed for dinner. However the front desk staff and the server at the pool bar made up for this the next day. The pool was great, not crowded at all. The room was nice and spacious with a separate lounge and bedroom. Overall, was a really nice stay!

Nice hotel on the beachPosted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: Pool was heated and 2 spas were soothing as a long day at the Camarillo outlets which are 10 miles away and well worth the trip.
Cons: The mattress was hard and the pillows were flat like pancakes.
Location: Location close to restaurants and Ventura Harbor and Outlet stores.
Hotel was nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. Check in was easy and our room was ready when we arrived. Good buffet breakfast each morning and happy hour with free drinks and appetizers from 5:30-7:00 pm. The only thing wrong was the pillows were like pancakes, so bring your own. We will definitely come back again.

Beautiful View Right on the BeachPosted Sep 8, 2014
My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and had an oceanfront room on the first floor. The view was beautiful and the room was great. The staff made everything so easy for us and were extremely friendly. The only concern I had about the room itself were the glasses that were supplied for us were dirty, so I had to call for them to bring us new ones. And when we had dinner at the hotel restaurant my boyfriend's steak was well over cooked and he could not enjoy it. But our server was great and friendly and they ended up comping off the steak so that we would not be upset with our dinner. Room service was quick and gave us every thing that we needed. Overall our stay was exceptional and we will be returning soon!

Romance Killer ResortPosted Sep 6, 2014
Pros: Nothing ... entirely disappointed ... and usually I am fond of Embassy Suite Hotels when traveling for business.
Cons: Complete overhaul - just advertise as what it is: a place where dogs & kids can run around in anarchie & Walmart Style dressed people drink too much
Location: Oxnard is not a very attractive inviting place. The beach is dirty and tarball contaminated. Nearest good food places are in Ventura
When booking a beach resort hotel for a week and paying extra for an Ocean View Room what I envisioned was a room with an undisturbed view over the ocean, with the wind gently moving white curtains, the room smelling fresh and both the bedroom and and living room providing a level of privacy for hard-earned and well deserved romantic get-a-way. What we found was that both the bedroom (no ocean view) and the living room where boardered along the access walkway to all other rooms, i.e. opening the sliding door provided direct access to strangers and their many dogs. The curtains were dingy, the room smelled "used" the bedsheets washed so heavily in clorine that it aggrevated our sinus. So with the walkway along the bedroom and along the living room (providing everyone a direct view into the premises) there was absolutely no privacy unless once creates an underground atmosphere shutting both the shades and the dingy curtains. Luckily we were in a position to leave the following morning to another true relaxing and beautiful resort ... Bacara ... with Expedia representative able to provide us with an even better rate than we had for this place. PS: the beach in front of the Mandalay Resort is dirty and tarball contaminated ... known to the hotel as they provide wipes at the gate when reentering the hotel. If I would be dating my wife and this would have been our first romantic get-a-way I doubt that we would have gotten married and that our beautiful children would ever been born

AwesomePosted Aug 18, 2014
This place is prefect. Awesome breakfast, beautiful grounds, right on the ocean. Our grand kids lived the pool. The free drinks were great and even better when you tip them. I've come to the conclusion that the petty things people are complaining about this place are just to fussy and hard to please. Oh yeah..The rooms are huge.

Nice Hotel within walking distance to the oceanPosted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: The beach is walking distance from the Hotel. Free Happy Hour!!!!
Cons: The speed of food service was slow. If the menu was changed and the lunch/dinner food upgraded, it would be a real nice hotel.
We made reservations the night before we left. We drove to the hotel and checked in. At first they said we had no reservations. I showed the clerk my reservation number from Expedia. She said they were totally booked. She went to the office and came back. She said our reservations came in by fax and no one put it in the system. She found us a room and honored the rate. Nice hotel, kind of showing its age. Nice free breakfast and happy hour. Staff seemed over worked, but then again it is their high season. There were a lot of children and families.

Kid friendly with attention to adult needsPosted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: free breakfast, free happy hour, friendly staff, location, easy access to Dallas Cowboys training camp nearby
Cons: room comforts; bed linens, pull out mattress
Location: Location was great for a beach vacation and several shops, restaurants were within a couple of miles walk.
Didn't start out well when our beach access room was overbooked and unavailable the first night we were there, but June, the desk manager, was very apologetic and covered our room fees the first night, all of our parking the 5 days we were there and surprised us with a large fruit and cheese platter in our new room on the second night. The free breakfast is wonderful. Everything you could possibly want and plenty of it, including a made to order omelet bar. Additionally the two hour happy hour every night that provided free drinks and snacks as well as FREE alcohol/liquor for the adults was worth being around for every day. The staff was all very friendly - the bartenders at happy hour were happy to engage in a conversation about your day, the pool/towel attendant was always smiling and friendly and anytime we asked for something from the front desk, they sent what we needed within minutes. Our room was ok. It was big enough for the 5 of us and clean enough, but the choice of linens and the mattress they put on the pull out sofa was awful. I felt so bad for my kids - they were sleeping on springs. We did the best we could by layering several of the cheap blankets they gave us on top of the mattress. My husband didn't care for the pillows. Having our room with direct access to the beach was a great idea in theory, but truthfully the walk to the shoreline was so long, it didn't really matter that we had "beach access". Next time we'd just get a pool view room instead.
