“Nice hotel, nice location”

The hotel was nicely maintained and seems to see a fair amount of visitors even on a non-holiday weekend. The lcoation was great, within short driving distance of beach areas, kayaking, shopping, and other entertainment ventures. There is a large park and boardwalk area adjacent to hotel that was great for taking the kids to play or just walk around. Breakfast was also excellent, with fresh hot food coming out all the way up until 10am when the service ended. For the price point and the location, i think this hotel is a great match for a casual getaway in the Port Hueneme/Channel Islands/Oxnard area.

Area recommendations

The Channel Islands area of town was very nice. We were told to avoid Oxnard due to a high crime rate and suspicious activites.

“Not impressed”

It looks new and even posh, however, it was noisy. The doors were permeable and any hallway noise was loud and disturbing, so were the shower noises. The sofa bed was most uncomfortable, but the main bed was very nice. The breakfast was generous and the ladies serving were extremely friendly.

We enjoyed the beach at Mandalay Shores Ave, We went for dinner at Yolanda, a great Mexican Restaurant, and at OH Sushi on Rose Ave.

“Nice location”

beautiful location, right on the water, nice rooms, good breakfast, a bit far away from town but sometimes that's a good thing.

“Delightful Weekend”

Everything about our stay was great. We loved our room with a view of the marina and Peninsula Park, where there was live music on Saturday from 4pm to 6 pm. More than once we took time to sit on our terrace and enjoy the late night beauty of the marina. There is a lovely walking path between the hotel and the marina, but directly on the other side of the marina on Harbor Blvd. are a wide variety of activities and dining opportunities. Our favorite for happy hour or a very nice dinner is the Whales Tale. On Sunday morning after taking advantage of the very nice breakfast offerings we crossed over to Harbor Blvd. for a stroll to the beach and found a wonderful farmer's market. A delightful weekend at this hotel was like a mini vacation. We hope to return often.

Area recommendations

Peninsula Park directly next to the hotel is a very nice place for kids to play, picnic or just sit and watch the boats go back and forth. One block further north on Channel Islands Blvd. you will find Harbor Blvd. It is impossible to miss the businesses along the marina there. Its a nice place to stroll or sit out side for lunch. This is also a location to catch boat excursions. Further down Harbor Blvd, past some of the the yacht clubs you will find the Whales Tale a restaurant that has been a fixture in the are for residents and boaters for the past thirty years. Sit any time upstairs at the tables by the bar that over look the marina and enjoy a bowl of clam chowder.

“Very Nice”

“Good Location”

The Hampton Inn hotel is in a good location. It is one of two in the area but much nicer than the other one. About the only complaint that I have is that there is not more of a varitety of snacks in the snack bar. There are some foods which require heating but there are no microwaves in the rooms. They should have sandwiches which do not require any preparation.

“Peaceful getaway”

The hotel was on the marina. Great view of boats and very peaceful area. Balcony was lovely. Very nicely upgraded and decor.

“Excellent Stay”

We arrived to a friendly, smiling receptionist. She handled our reservation quickly and without incident. She asked if we needed anything more and offered local dining choices with menus and directions. Rooms and hotel were clean and quiet. We will return and will recommend this hotel.

“Nice property in Oxnard”

We usuallyt stop here as an overnighter while returning to our home in Indio from Monterey. Always satisfied with the room and accommodations, Great breakfast to start you off in the morning. One bummer though...no satelite TV!! Had to try to find the UCLA vs Houston football game on AM radio. That was a chore!!

“Happy in Oxnard”

If you need a place to stay in and around Oxnard the Hampton Inn is for you. We stopped in Oxnard for one night on way down to San Diego from Vancouver, B.C. We arrived at the hotel around 10 PM after a long day's drive and was not disappointed. Check-in was fast and efficient. The room was very comfortable with a view of the harbor. We were traveling with a two year old, so the choice of hotel is very important. We were so impressed that we stayed at the Hampton Inn on our return trip home.
