Hotel tried to scam us

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Booked hotel through Expedia at $199.99 per night total. When we came there, we immediately knew it was a waste of money because the motel looked like a total dump. On top of that, they tried to scam us at the check in - gave us a bill for $222.98, supposedly now with some additional fees and taxes. We showed them the original email confirmation, called Expedia to confirm the rate (they did confirm $199.99 total, with all the fees and taxes) but couldn't reason with the rude gentleman at the check in. So we had to leave! Motel Viking is a smelly place with rude staff, please save your money and book elsewhere

Great Bargain

Posted Jun 17, 2013
Pros: Friendly service, clean, fairly close to downtown. The price was very reasonable.
Cons: While the other room might have the "standard coffee making and fixings", there wasn't one on the room we stayed in. There should be one in each room.
Location: Location realtively close to downtown which has great restaurants and boutique shops, with some great 2nd hand stores way to the north on Main Street.
Arrived early to remind staff that we wanted downstairs room/suite. Office was locked, but I just pushed service button outside the office and someone appeared immediately. They were very pleasant and assured us that we would have a room/suite downstairs. The hotel was totally full - and parking (free) was a little tight. Although check-in was until 2:00 p.m., we were allowed to check in as soon as the room/suite was cleaned. The double bedroom suite had a full size - at least 45-50 flat screen TV - and good closet and drawer space, a full kitchen with a full four piece set of dishware and flatware. Room/suite was very clean and comfortable. Price was very reasonable for being relatively close to downtown Ventura. It is an older hotel, but very clean and in good repair. Would definitely stay again.

Great deal, quiet, clean

Posted Nov 8, 2011
Not expecting much from the outside I walked into my room, which was the size of a studio apartment, and was so pleased at how large and clean it was. I had no idea it came with a full size kitchen, dinette, tons of storage space and a bed with a memory foam topper! Bed had soft linens and was very comfortable. Room had at least a 60 inch flat screen mounted on the wall with a leather chair and ottoman so you didn't have to sit on your bed unless you wanted to. The kitchen had a full size refrigerator and full size 4-burner stove and large oven. There was a live plant in the kitchen. Also had a toaster oven and microwave - a couple of coffee pots too. Tons of windows that opened to the ocean breeze. Quite lovely. The best was the bathroom. For people that like to see when you put on your makeup, the light was BRIGHT! The shower was large and had a high pressure shower head - quite nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would definitely come back. The only downside was perhaps the dishes didn't match and the wood cupboards were old. So what. Didn't bother me in the least. Management was friendly and informative of the local area. Offered to help me with my luggage if I needed help since they don't have an elevator.
