“Location, location, location!!”

Its great to see that a hotel that has long existed in Veracruz and that has gone through a thorougful renovation has become to a be a close competitor to top end hotels, with the great advantage of really reasonable prices, also if you are looking for a place nearby the tourist attractions on a walking distance, this is your hotel. I highly recommend it. However, the only thing that kind of bum me out, was the time that one can make it's check in (3:00 pm), for me it was too late. I would invite them to reconsider moving to a more reasonable time ie. 11-12.

“Great Location; Great Service”

Although I had requested an interior room with king-sized bed, that was easily changed to a high 4th floor corner room overlooking the zocalo and the harbor: a bit noisier, partying all weekend in the zocalo, but blotted out by double-glazed windows and running the air-conditioning. The staff could not have been nicer (front desk, bar and restaurant for breakfast - much more reasonable than the much touted La Parrochia - plagued by hawkers). If you are a beach person, there might be better choices. And I admit that Diligencias is a bit sterile (and shows signs of wear). But what is the alternative downtown? The Hawaii which does not answer emails?

“Awesome historical hotel”

This hotel is over 200 years old. The condition is outstanding. The location is awesome and close to the Malecon on the water. It's in the center of the town square. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is great that the hotelo can exchange dollars to pesos right there at the checkin counter. All the staff was simply very good. My family and I plan on making a trip every year to Veracruz to visit family there and we will definitely book our hotel there. I would also say that it helps that the hotel has designated cab drivers that they use for hotel guests. it gave us a definite sense of security to know that. They even arranged a cab to pick us up at the airport which was helpful to us since our flight was late in the evening arriving. Just an awesome place. Highly recommend it.

“Five star luxury”

Magnificent hotel. It is situated on the zocalo, right in the middle of Veracruz. The hotel is a true 5 star hotel at a very reasonable price. The service was impeccable as well as the amenities. The staff was very helpful. We were greeted each time we entered the lobby. The restaurant and the bar were excellent. The waiters very professional. This hotel ranked with the best New York or Paris has to offer.

“Best quality in city - Charming historic spot”

The Hotel staff was over-the-top friendly. Speaking Spanish was a plus because it allowed me to speak with other staff beyond the front desk. Everyone was so helpful. The historic hotel is situated in the very best place in the city; close to restaurants and shops, close to Mercado Juarez, which is a must see for all tourists, and right across from an public square with open market. Everything is walking distance. The room was spacious and clean and very nicely updated. My room had a "balcony" which opened up to the street. I enjoyed getting the thrill of the vibrant night-life without having to go down to the street. I would recommend it to singles, couples, and families. Great value and I look forward to returning.

“Tourist's choice”

Spent two night weekend "getaway". Hotel is a great location to experience heart of an ancient colonial city– beautiful architecture surrounding central Zocolo (plaza) that each night is alive with traditional dancing (majority of dancers are 60+). Great people watching. Veranda of hotel is just across street from all this-- have a drink, dinner and enjoy. This historic hotel is beautifully restored and in top-notch physical condition. A minor complaint is that the guest room only had straight-back chairs. A greater complaint is the personnel at the front desk-- not one smiling face or friendly greeting at check-in or at check-out. In contrast, the bellboys and parking attendants were very nice. If you want to stay in the city center (rather than the beach area), this is your best choice.
