Humid hallways and a/c was limited

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Price, cleanliness, local, quiet due to sparse guest volume.
Cons: A/C
Location: Close to turnpike, I95, food, gas, drug store.
I realize that FL hotels will be humid in July, but the lobby was nice and cool and the upper floors were humid and stuffy. The room thermostats were rigged at night to not cool under 77. That's really stuffy to my standards, and one needs to be cooler at night and not so much during the day. Guests are normally not around during the day. Why isn't it the opposite if they're trying to save money on AC? The TV remote doesn't have a surf mode - you have to press the correct station using the printed channel guide. What is that about? The good news is that my room was clean and tidy and mostly quiet at night, except for the Asian man next store who thought the walls were made of cement and completed his business calls with his outdoor voice. The front desk personnel were way less than friendly, but efficient all the same. The continental breakfast was acceptable and sufficient for on the go travelers. I never heard any outside traffic as the hotel is about a 1/4 mile away from I95 and the turnpike. All being said, it was worth the price I paid from the online search engine. I would stay there again.

All La Quinta Inns are NOT Created Equal

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: Nothing. There are plenty of $40 and $50 dollar rooms on the same street, and I'll bet they're equal to this one.
Cons: Mattresses, towels, breakfast, more staff, hotter water, cooler a/c, better owners
Location: Beach, nature preserves, etc.
This was the WORST La Quinta I've ever stayed in. I stay in a lot of hotels for work. The hallmark of the stereotypical owners of low-budget hotels were EVERYWHERE at this La Quinta. Everything was done on the cheap to save a few cents and it ruined the experience. The A/C was OFF in my long-reserved room, so it was hot, muggy, and smelled strange when I entered. The mini-fridge was on its warmest setting, and took half the night to cool down. One soap chip. One shampoo. Thin, hard, terrible mattress left me with a sore back. Short, thin, scratchy towels. The "HOT" water was luke-warm at best. Anything to save a penny - it's cultural. THE WORST BREAKFAST I'VE EVER SEEN IN A HOTEL. Putrid sausage. Soggy french toast sticks. Rock hard biscuits from who knows when. Cheap, gross syrup. Warm, dusty margarine cups. Even the sleeve for my room's key-card was cut and taped together from scratch paper. Embarrassingly cheap - all the way around.
