Off to the operaPosted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Location, quirky style and friendly staff. Great dinner recommendation.
Location: Everything is on your doorstep.
Picked Scalzi to be somewhere between station and heart of the city. Nice, simple hotel that offered a great base for exploring Verona.

Close to the arena.Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: The general feel. It is an old building.
Cons: A lift. Helpfully staff did help carrying heavy bags.
Location: Staff gave a map of the city, so I didn't get lost & pointed of where to visit. Take a tour bus around the city. The opera in the arena is amazing.
Verona is a wonderful city & the hotel & staff made it a perfect opera break. Felt safe walking back to the hotel. 10 min walk.

Beautiful old Hotel in great locationPosted Jun 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
On arrival to this Hotel you are greeted by staff who are very pleasant and do a good job. We stayed in a suite which is like a loft with a very comfortable bed upstairs and large bathroom and sitting area downstairs. The building is very old and renovated in a retro style. Would definitely recomend and would return tomorrow if we could!

Awesome!Posted May 19, 2014
This place is a must stay. if you are in Verona and looking for an authentic (but modern) experience then stay here. Staff are very helpful, the rooms are all modern and its all set in a historical building which oozes classic Italian. Bar having a Vespa outside this place couldn't be any better.

Old palace hotel in VeronaPosted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Very good buffet breakfast. Interesting old photos of Verona
Cons: Maps of Verona should be available. No lift for rooms, some on 3rd floor.
Location: Easy access to train/bus station,on bus route within and walking distance from old centre/main sights.
Fairly easy to find, welcoming reception, attractive old palace with lots of character and ambiance. On main road but quiet hotel/rooms.

It was old; it was great.Posted Oct 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
We are an older couple, so...the stairs w/suitcases presented a challenge, Seeing our difficulty, but...the location was terrific and we would go to this hotel again.

Nice old-style hotel, well locatedPosted Oct 3, 2013
The hotel is well located between the Station and the city centre. It is in a largely unmodified old building, with interesting touches such as a little mezzanine lounge area above the main reception. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had a modern bathroom, and was comfortable (if a little sparsely furnished). Good for a short holiday break.

Clean, friendly hotelPosted Sep 10, 2013
Pros: location spacious, clean room friendly staff good wifi decent breakfast
Cons: room noise price -- it was different from Expedia reservation
Location: Simply walk around. Verona is a small city.
I was first surprised at the price across Verona. There were other hotels at better rate outskirt of the city but we chose to stay within the wall. Choosing Scalzi was just a decision based on location (and clenched teeth to bear the price). Honestly, we didn't expect too much about the two star hotel. It turns out we loved this place. The hotel is located from 10 min walk distance from the arena. Not too far, not too close. The staff was extremely helpful, and breakfast was decent at two star level. Room was very spacious and clean. WiFi was fast. Overall, we were satisfied during the stay except following two things. room noise -- in general it's quiet but you can hear the traffic at night. checkout price -- I booked through expedia (105 euro per night) but charged (180 euro per night) at check out. I should have noticed that during checkout but we were in hurry to catch our early morning flight.
