No luxury, but worth the price
No luxury but you really get what you pay for. Our room was big, not very cosy, but clean and the beds were good. A simple but nice breakfast - typical Norwegian. The hotel is located in the city center and close to "everything".

Basic but clean
Needed a cheap hotel room for a short stay in Kristiansand. Smooth check-in. Helpful staff. Basic but clean room. Bed was good to sleep in. Small bathroom with a powerful shower. Continental breakfast included, with hardboiled and softboiled eggs. A supermarket just besides the hotel. Central location near the bus and train station. Could stay here again.

Disappointing
The breakfast was so disappointing. You don’t pay so much and virtually get no good breakfast. So disappointing. Staffs were polite and friendly. Rooms to small and not comfortable for children.

perfect location, walk from train and to ferry to Denmark. Staff very friendly and helpful with directions. They advertise as no frills and that may be so, but linens were nice and fresh, wifi was strong and consistent, the room and bath were compact, but adequate. We had to leave before breakfast opened, but the offerings looked nice.

The rooms at Yess Hotel are of a Youth Hostel type standard. They are small with beds in a bunk style arrangement - a single over a double. The bathroom is also tiny. Parking is available at the rear of the property - enter from Kristian IV gate. There is no guest laundry but the young lady at reception was kind enough to let us use one in the basement that is used by the hotel. Reasonable breakfast provided. The door to reception is locked until 3pm so don't think about trying to check in early. Note that the road in front of the hotel is currently inaccessible due to road construction.

A cheaper hotel that has everything one needs
A convenient hotel which has everything we need. Breakfast is good and basic. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Others complain about a small room and bathroom but this is Europe and not the US. We are very happy with our stay!

Great location
Very conveniently located almost in centre of Kristiansand, we could walk everywhere. Parking provided for small fee which was convenient as the street out front was being excavated. The breakfast choices were quite good and served from 6.30am so we could make an early start.

I think the breakfast buffet was boring and had a low range of foods, only chees, salami and ham, and there were no butter, only plant based spred. There were dust on the shelfs in the room and in the bathroom.

I checked in late after all receprionists were gone. They left emailed me the gate code, left me the keys the my room in the lobby and also gave me extra towels. Very nice service!

Ver ybasic hotel with bunk beds and rather minimalistic breakfast (only boiled eggs -- no yoghurt products). If you want to stay for a reasonable price (still not cheap, but Norway isn't I fear) then you can consider this place -- convenient centre location and all clean and modern. But it's basic.

This is an interesting concept. First the Cons: They are closed until 3 p.m. and stay open till 10 or 11 p.m. There was no one available if you needed something when they are closed. The doors to reception and breakfast room are shut and locked. The rooms are the smallest I've been in. The sink in bathroom is about the size of a football. Actually fine for washing hands. The shower is small but adequate. Towels are thin. Their is no lobby to sit in when reception is closed. There was an area in the entryway under construction that might improve this problem. The Pros: Very friendly staff. Rooms are perfectly adequate for a couple of nights as long as you are not a very large person, as there is very little walking around room. Rooms do have a tv. Beds are comfortable. The coolest thing was the bed had a drawer under it and it had extra towel, blanket and pillow and is a trundle bed. The breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. It was as adequate as many of the more expensive hotels we stayed in Norway. It had hard boiled eggs,. deli meat, cheese, norways typical very delicious bread, jelly, cereal, juices and coffee. Amazing for the price you pay. The staff hands out chocolates when you check in and at breakfast, and they are so cheerful and sweet. Location is very good - One street from the main shopping street, very close to the train station, and harbor. I would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic stay at the Yess hotel
Everything was perfect. I was made welcome as soon as I went into reception. The room was small but clean and had everything I needed. I usually have trouble sleeping in any bed other than my own but not so here. It was very comfy. Getting there from the airport was easy using public transport. The bus costs about £5 and was punctual.

The people running it were super nice. Unfortunately the guests before us had smoked in our room and left the buds outside the window. There were no other rooms available so we bought a candle to help out with the smell. The rooms are tiny and so were the bathrooms.

Norway Moms 65th Birthday trip.
Was a little surprised by room size but spent very little time in it. Was so perfectly located to down town. Breakfast was simple & better than a continental. Staff was so helpful & check in was a breeze. You will have parking charges either there or at any other lot. Still reasonable.

Stayed only one night waiting for ferry. Right across the street. Modern feel with inspirational sayings on walls. Great staff. Common room is sparse but welcoming. Rooms are small; ours had a bunk and trundle. Adequate but not all that cozy. Would recommend if you are catching the ferry.

Reception area and room were uninviting;food at breakfast was adequate. Neither displayed Norwegian style and standards. More like a cheap hotel in the states. Many better choices nearby. Savings on room cost were not worth the disappointment. Hated to return to the room, but had to on a rainy day.
