The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are clean and smoke free. Lots of parking. Overall, it had everything we needed and were looking for.

Older hotel with smaller rooms and no elevator. Staff are friendly and helpful. Check-in was simple and quick. Interior of hotel hallways/stairwells/rooms impressed me with its cleanliness. Property is shared with National car rental outlet. Convenient if you wanted to rent and start your trip from here. The price was quite reasonable. Spoons Cafe is just across the street and is open for breakfast and lunch till 4 pm. Great food and ambiance. Very handy for this location.

This hotel was in a VERY UNSAFE part of town.... since it wasnt far from the ferry,I decided to walk. I went to a part of town that had people laying on the sidewalk, homeless people everywhere, and felt very unsafe. I tried my best to cancel my reservations but i could not. I could not even get a REAL PERSON on the phone to talk to. But they were more than happy to take my money. Will I book with Expedia again?? NO WAY EVER!!!

Hello Sherry, The hotel needs to disagree with your review. The hotel contacted you several ways to assist you to get a refund for what you paid on Expedia. As you booked through Expedia it is Expedia who processed your payment and not the hotel. The hotel tried to assist you about 5 different times. If you can't get through to Expedia on the phone then this is not the fault of the hotel. You were also issued a full refund that you failed to mention. As you decided to walk one KM at night and saw homeless people and felt unsafe you cannot put this as fault of the hotel. We ask that you remove your review. Thank you.

Hadn’t been back to Arbutus Inn since the renovations. Wow, spectacular room, brand new decor and fittings. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!

Check in staff friendly yet not really listening. Pouring Rain today when I was checking out. Was taking a load to my car, no dolly, & front desk locked me out of building. A fellow guest let me back in then cleaning staff let me back in room so i could retrieve my 2nd load. Never felt so pushed around. I like to pack as I watch price is right. Can't they wait 5 minutes so i can load my car?. Its ridiculous. I'm an excellent guest & never leave a giant mess for anyone. Ten minutes would be kind. Just unthinking about comfort of regular guests. Bum's rush.

Hello Victoria. Thank you for posting a review of your stay. Sorry you felt the urgency of checking out after 11am. That is not our intention. With any rooms not checked out at the front desk by 11am we do call and if there is no answer, we knock on the door to see if you have left. If you needed more time that would not have been a problem at all. In future just call the front desk to advise them you will be a bit longer in packing up to leave. No one locked you out. The key cards expire at 11:30 on check out date. This is 30 mins past the check-out time Thanks again for staying with us and all the best in any future travels.
