Hotel very central and price ok

Posted Jul 5, 2015
Pros: The character of the hotel
Cons: Rooms
Location: Everything you would want
The hotel was very close to everything but the service was terrible. The room's bathroom door was off the rails and the bed was extremely hard. The front desk manager was professional and did his best the last day there but the hotel needs improvements to the staff professionalism.

Very clean, convenient location

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Very clean
Cons: Could feel every spring in mattress, decor very dated.
Location: Great location for walking to tourist attractions in downtown Victoria.
Very convenient location for walking around downtown Victoria. Close to harbor, museum and Parliament buildings. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Reasonably priced for heart of the city

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Pros: Location was excellent. Very pretty area, and the hotel fit right in. Quick check in and room was comfortable with 10 foot ceilings.
Cons: A/C was too small for the size of the room and needed an upgrade.
Location: Restaurants and bars are all around. The harbour area was but a few blocks away. Park your car and tour.
Great location downtown. Lots to do and see within walking distance. Has a great Pub in the hotel, with good food at a reasonable price. Older hotel, but well kept.

Close to the action

We stayed during the International Busking Festival, and it was like having the circus on our doorstep...in a good way. The hotel was walking distance to terrific restaurants, shopping, and transport to sightseeing, yet the street was peaceful enough to walk along. Rooms were like being in Europe -- charming and comfortable, if a little small.

Excellent location

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location!
Location: Check out all the locally owned businesses, but don't go too early. Typical hours are between 10:00 & 11:00 ish am to 5 - 5:30 ish pm. Well worth it!
This is an old hotel, but it's Victoria, an old city. The place is clean and is in an excellent location. Food and service at the attached pub is good. If you are driving you need to pull up to the front of the hotel to get your parking pass for the lot a block and a half away. You will not need your car to see anything downtown, everything is close and accessible.

I love this place!

Posted Jun 23, 2015
Pros: the flowers in the window boxes
Location: everything is near by, that is why it's great. Murchies next door, grab a cup of coffee to go with a pastry, walk down to the wharf and enjoy!
Perfect place to stay. Park the car. Everything is within walking distance. Affordable enough you can spend more on dinner!

Location, Location, Location

This Hotel is in a perfect location and the rates are very reasonable for such a great downtown location. It is an older "classic" hotel and it is kept up very well. The windows open and there is a fresh breeze from all directions and a decent view from most. The only drawbacks I could think of are 1) I did not have a microwave and 2) there was a shortage of outlets in the room - I had to unplug the refrigerator to use the Coffee maker. The tub was jetted and huge, The room was very large and comfortable.

Charming hotel, great location

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Pros: Charming room, flowers!
Cons: Have the Irish Pub play their high-decibel music indoors only. The rest of the world wants to sleep!
Location: Willy's Bakery and Green Cuisine (Market Square, Johnson street, a few blocks away) were great places to eat.
Charming hotel, the lobby is kind of boring but our room was very quaint, with live flowers on the windowsills, and overall much more of a quaint B&B feel than a hotel feel. It's close to the waterfront, close to the Coho, close to some good dining places. There is one big downside to be aware, though: next door is "The Irish Pub". This business pipes very loud, live music out into the street well past normal bedtimes, and every night we were "entertained" (not!) in our rooms by this late into the night.
