Great location.Posted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: Clean, comfortable, good breakfast, free parking and love having the pool available for an evening dip.
Location: It was not in the middle of downtown but walking distance to many bars, restaurants, fisherman wharf and Beacon Hill Park.
Perfect location. Easy walk to the inner harbour and on to downtown or over to fisherman's wharf. Easy to get around the major traffic if heading elsewhere in the city by car.

Great location and good price..Posted Jul 24, 2015
Pros: Location is the best thing about the hotel. It is less expensive than many other hotels in the vicinity and included was a good hot breakfast.
Cons: A second chair was needed in the bedroom. When in the room watching TV or reading the paper, one guest is forced to sit on the bed.
Location: Close to good restaurants, the BC Museum, ferry and Victoria Clipper lines, etc. Great location.
This hotel is very close to all the interesting places to see in Victoria. The hotel was a bit dated, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and quick to respond to a problem with the TV. Overall it was a good experience and we would stay there again.

Hotel is in a great location, close to attractionsPosted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: Location and price.
Cons: Updated cabinetry in kitchen and bathrooms would modernize the rooms.
Location: All the popular tourist draws were within easy walking distance.
Hotel staff are competent and friendly, location is great, lobby and rooms are a bit dated. I get the feeling it was once a retirement home or condo for elder residents converted to a hotel. Overall the room was comfortable and had a small balcony with lots of light. There was a kitchenette which was helpful. Bed was comfortable. For the price it was worth it. Free parking, WiFi, and a standard hotel breakfast was nice.

Good locationPosted Jul 7, 2015
Pros: Front desk, dining room and housekeeping staff were friendly and willing to answer questions.
Cons: The only negative were the uncomfortable sofa and chair in the living area of our suite -- uncomfortable, too low and difficult to get out of.
Location: The hotel is near US ferry dock, Parliament building, BC Museum and IMAX. Behind the Parliament building is a memorial to firemen & paramedics.
When arriving on a early ferry, bags can be checked at the front desk for later checking in. Hot morning breakfast has an efficient dining room staff who keep items refilled. After eating, guests are very good about clearing their tables and placing used dishes in bins. Well-marked bins are available for compostible and non-compostible items. Raves to the hotel for making it easy to be green.

A wonderful shockPosted Jul 7, 2015
Pros: So close to everything. We walked to fisherman's wharf, the inner harbour, China town (and back), the Empress, and the Legislature is across the street
Location: Best location out there. If you want to walk downtown Victoria, this is the place to stay!
The pictures on Expedia didn't prepare us for what we walked into when we entered our room. The single queen bed family suite is like having an apartment all to yourself. You walk into a small dining table, a full living room with a huge TV, and a balcony off the living room. Then you turn around and see the full kitchen, more closets than you'll know what to do with, a full bathroom with a powerful shower (I was concerned when I saw the small shower head, but the water pressure was amazing and hot water plentiful!). Finally you walk in the bedroom. There's no way that's a Queen size bed. That's certainly a King size. Again, you have another TV in the bedroom and a balcony off of your bedroom. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was real food - not some microwaved packaged stuff that you get at other "breakfast included" hotels, and the building though older, was quite beautiful with marble floors and small touches. I was surprised to find no fee to either use the computer in the lobby or to print from the computer. We never got a chance to use the pool, but it looked wonderful and everyone in it was having fun.

Short but sweetPosted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: Proximity to downtown and harbor, AWESOME breakfast, very comfortable rooms.
Cons: Make the safe user friendly and possibly a shuttle although the only time we needed it was from the ship.
Location: Steps away from the beautiful Parliament building and Empress Hotel and of course the Inner Harbor for people watching and amazing sunsets!
We stayed in Victoria for a couple nights as an extension of our Alaskan Cruise. We loved the proximity to the harbor and downtown with everything we needed within a few blocks. Hotel has an updated side which serves an outstanding breakfast and another wing that looks to need updating from the outside. I saw an outdoor pool but never saw anyone using it despite the warm weather. Room was very comfortable. Had a small balcony to stand on. The safe never worked but that was a small inconvenience. We were under the impression it was a short walk from the cruise port to the hotel. With 4 people and 9 bags it took over 40 minutes walking time...multiple cabs & shuttles (not from hotel) available we just didn't think it would take that long to walk. Live & learn :) We took the Victoria Clipper back to Seattle and this was much closer to walk to! While in Victoria we enjoyed the Night Market on Sat. evening and on Sunday we did a Whales and Gardens tour with Prince of Whales Tours. 3 hr. whale watching and they drop you off at Butchart Gardens for the evening for 3-6 hrs. depending on your time schedule and return you back to the Empress Hotel and harbor via coach. Our last day was spent at Beacon Hill Park. This is a beautiful expansive park with plenty of room, clean, trails and more! We caught the 5:30 Clipper Ferry back to Seattle for about a 3 hr. ride. Wouldn't change a thing!

Wonderfully located & great retreat from the day!Posted Jun 23, 2015
Pros: location and the large, comfortable room
Cons: The appliances in the kitchenette could stand to be updated.
Location: Fabulous location - provided an opportunity to walk out the door and be close to the Royal Museum, the legislature & ocean front.
The Embassy was an older hotel that has been renovated. The room was close to most of the local attractions and only 1 block from the ocean front but was also a spacious and a wonderful retreat from our busy days of exploring Victoria.

Nice Hotel close to a lot of attractionsPosted Jun 3, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff, clean rooms and free breakfast, WiFi and parking. Close to shopping, Harbour and interesting sights.
Cons: I think you should get that bar area completed and have some live music on weekends.
Location: Great location. As I said, close to the harbour,China town and lots of shopping and restaurants.
Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. Clean room, comfortable bed. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast, which is included in the price of the room, was very good. The hotel is within walking distance to China Town and the wharf, where there is daily entertainment. Lots of restaurants and shopping, again, within walking distance. Beacon Hill is nearby, which is a must to see.
