Small classic hotel very convenient to the harbor!

Posted Aug 2, 2015
Pros: Location, air-conditioning, windows that open, kitchen, small laundry, associated parking, quietness, and homelike feel.
Location: Very close by is the B.C. Museum, Thunderbird Park, Beacon Hill Park, the Empess Hotel, the Parliment Buildings, and the Harbor itself.
We stayed 3 nights at the Helms Inn and felt very at home. We had a car but did not really need it. The Helms Inn has 3 buildings and we stayed in the 3rd building. Per our request our room was away from the streets, facing a retirement home so it was very quiet. Our king suite had a small kitchen, air conditioning and 2 windows that opened. Our building was an 1948 apartment building that had been converted into being a hotel so was very stout and recently updated. We did not hear our neighbors at all. Do be advised that there are stairs in this facility, more for some units than others. Also there is a small fee for parking. We will return to the Helms.

Very Comfortable Downtown Hotel

Posted Jul 19, 2015
Pros: Air conditioned bedroom.
Cons: No elevator in my building (room was on third floor). Not sure if there are elevators in the other two buildings.
Location: Same block as BC Museum (behind it really). Very short walk to harbour, Empress, Legislature Building etc.Co
Full kitchen, friendly and helpful staff. Separate bedroom. Home away from home.

Great location and nice to have kitchenette

Posted Jul 9, 2015
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend with a few notes of reservation: basically no air conditioning, no breakfast, and very small and uncomfortable beds. The room does have a seating area and kitchenette, but bedroom is teeny tiny. The area is great and we liked the older atmosphere. Nice courtyard and Beacon Hill is across street as well as Royal BC Museum.

Great room near the Museum and the Waterfront

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Location: Museum, waterfront, parliament buildings, shopping.
We were looking for a good place to stay when we come to Victoria to visit our son. This was our first stay at the Helms Inn and found the staff extremely helpful. I had not specified a ground floor room and, since there is no elevator, I should have as they had booked us a second floor room. There wasn't an appropriate alternative and I was able to manage the stairs so we did stay there. The room itself was spacious, the kitchenette was handy and the bed was lovely at the end of a long day of travelling. Although there is no food service or bar at the hotel itself, there are so many nearby, it was not a problem. We will stay there again when we visit Victoria.
