Visiting friends and touringPosted Oct 4, 2014
Pros: Everything from price, food and room and everything else they provide.
Cons: Its a bit dated but love the fridge and kitchenettes in the rooms
Location: Its close to exit for ferries and up island and shopping not that far.Banks etc food shopping and a lot of other shops nearby.
I would recommend this hotel hands down even though not downtown it is convenient to everywhere and access out to the ferries, This hotel for the total stay was excellent. The rooms are a bit dated but spotlessly clean.Would definitely stay here again.

Very good place to stay!Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: it's location just off of Hwy 17, made it VERY easy to go anywhere on the island we wanted to. The restaurant in the hotel has very good food !
Cons: For the cost of the rooms, Really a great place to stay.
Location: Parks, the Butchart Gardens, Butterfly Gardens, Quaint little towns all over, and endless miles of BEAUTIFUL shore line! A must see place!
We spent 2 days at the Howard Johnsons hotel. Found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The rooms were well equipped and clean. Had a wonderful time staying with them!

nice hotel close to U. VictoriaPosted Sep 22, 2014
Pros: the room was comfortable, clean and well appointed.
Cons: the air condition unit failed to reduce the heat in the room and the window only opened marginally.
Location: Quick commute to U Vic; also to downtown. Easy access to Hwy 17
we chose this hotel because of its proximity to U Vic. It was also close to downtown without being in city traffic.

Quick one night stayPosted Sep 14, 2014
not happy, booked a room as hotel said pets ok, when arrived we were moved to another room with only one bed and a pull out couch. Staff said this is the way it is. not impressed. Couch horrible to sleep on. staff not concerned with our concern, so will not stay again.

Very interesting alternativePosted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: price/performance (at least for Victoria...)
Cons: some basic work-out equipment, horrible sleeping couch (don't even try it if you want to keep your back...)
Location: If you have a car, very convenient for Butchart gardens and downtown
If you have some "wheels" (=car) at your disposal it is definitely a valuable alternative for the -rather expensive- downtown Victoria hotels. Big room, microwave and fridge available (handy if you have kids), well functioning wireless (5* hotels still dare to charge you extra for that...). Bubble pool is nice, swimming pool and fitness a bit...euh...symbolic, but nice t have too. Will probably be back.

Hotel average; close to Victoria airportPosted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: Proximity to airport. Pool
Cons: Must be renovated
Location: Close to a fun little center on Royal Oak drive, including quite a good family type restaurant(Romeo's)
Reception staff average. General cleanliness slightly better than average. Nice pool.

Great locationPosted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: Very clean, friendly staff and restaurant was so convenient - food was great. Pool was an added bonus and very well maintained.
Cons: New mattresses
Location: Easy walk to stores and to beautiful park at Elk Lake
Went to Victoria for a wedding and the location was perfect. Only concern was that the beds were both saggy on the side closest to the end table in between the beds. Kept feeling like you were falling out of bed all night. Other than the bed, great service - having the restaurant and lounge of the premises was a bonus - great food!

Our stay was only one night.Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Our first stay and all was very good.
Location: We were in Victoria for a wedding and the hotel was close to out friends place as well as the U of Vic.
My wife and I were impressed with every facet of our stay. The room was very clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly. To top things off was a very nice breakfast in the restaurant.

Rooms on west side are warmPosted Jul 3, 2014
The Lakes Inn, the pub, is good. Their staff is attentive and the food is good. Are roommate was hot. They moved us to the room next door and it was slightly better. It's ok for a night or two.
