Stay somewhere else.Posted Oct 14, 2013
Pros: The restaurant (breakfast) wasn't too bad.
Cons: The beds and the old and very outdated ambience. Step it up Howard Johnson!
Carpets were being laid while I was there which created a noise factor. Sleeping on the beds was like sleeping on cement slabs. Super hard and uncomfortable.

Multiple stays at comfortble hotelPosted Sep 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Howard Johnston is good quality and I enjoy staying there, but the summer price gets a bit out of it's class for this location away from town.

HJ Elk Lake,VictoriaPosted Sep 1, 2013
Pros: Overall very good without having to pay ridiculously high hotel rate
Cons: Difficult to find parking stall close to unit.
Location: Easy driving distance to everything in Victoria and surrounding area.
Excellent. Very quiet corner suite. Staff are very helpful and well trained. Very popular with groups. Really enjoyed my short stay at Howard Johnson - Elk Lake Drive. Victoria

Easy access to Brentwwod Bay and Sidney.Posted Aug 20, 2013
Pros: I liked the proximity to the Pat Bay Highway and West Saanich Rd. for getting back and forth to North Saanich event I was attending.
Cons: The swimming pool, hot tub and gym should be open by 6 a.m. rather than 9 a.m. for travellers who wish to use these facilities before business begins!
Location: Beautiful suburban / rural location close to lakes, streams, ocean. Nearby golf courses, Butchart Gardens, Butterfly World, Sidney, great restaurants
Check-in and check-out were very smooth and hassle-free. Room was very clean and comfortable. Pool, hot tub and gym were lovely. The Lakes restaurant and bar were very nice and the serving personnel terrific.

Overall is good only the internet is weak.Posted Aug 10, 2013
My room was at the edge of the hotel therefore the WiFi was weak. My laptop couldn't get access to WiFi. I got an internet cable from front desk. One end of the cable was flat but I didn't notice. I plugged it in my laptop. The connection was bad. I couldn't get access to internet either. So I wanted to unplug the cable. It was stuck badly. I finally got it out with a screw driver. The result: my laptop's network connection port is broken.

Great stayPosted Aug 8, 2013
Very nice Hotel. Has a nice outdoor pool and indoor spa. Very good resturant & Pub. Location is about 10 minutes to the inside harbour and about 15 minutes to the Swartz Bay Ferry to Vancouver. Stayed 3 nights with very good rates. Would have no problem recommending this Hotel.

Great hotel for familiesPosted Jul 31, 2013
Our family stayed here for a couple of nights. Our kids had a lot of fun in the pool (much warmer than the ocean). We had a rental vehicle and used the hotel as a base to visit downtown Victoria and the Butchart Gardens and Butterfly Gardens. We enjoyed a couple of breakfasts and a yummy dinner at the attached restaurant. Friendly staff. Good overall value for families.
