Extremely clean and quiet

Posted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness and fireplace in the room
Cons: We would have loved coffee in the room, it was available in the lobby, and being an older hotel no elevator, good old stairs.
Location: Once in the harbour, The Empress Hotel, Parliament bldg. museum, horse drawn buggies, restaurants and shopping.
We enjoyed our stay, very rustic hotel and quite a good walk to the harbour

Comfortable hotel, great location, great walks

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: The restaurant was very convenient for a quick breakfast. There is also a bar, which serves the same menu as the restaurant.
Location: Healthy adults who like to walk, can stroll comfortably to the harbour and Chinatown, as well as to Beacon Hill and the sea-side path off Dallas Rd.
We stayed in the Heritage House. The location made all the attractions of downtown Victoria easily accessible by walking - no need to worry about parking. We explored Chinatown, shopped in a variety of interesting stores, had meals in great restaurants - and then had pleasant walks back to the hotel. Heading in the other direction from the hotel, we strolled around Beacon Hill Park and walked down to Dallas Rd and across to the beach. Lovely. There is a corner store just down the street from the hotel, where we purchased coffee cream and snacks. There was a fully equipped kitchen in our suite, and although we only made coffee there, if one were ambitious, one could cook a full meal there. This hotel is well suited for adults. I am not sure that small children would have as great a time.

Quaint hotel with a historic feel.

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Location
Location: Walking distance to government building and the harbor.
Great location, walking distance to the harbor, etc. No elevator, which may be of note to some. We didn't mind. The room was nice and the bathroom looked like it was recently renovated. Weather was nice, but our room had no A/C, so hotter weather may have made the room uncomfortable. We very much enjoyed the stay.

Nice, quiet location with a short walk to downtown

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: Close to Parliament Buildings and to harbour and downtown. Very quiet, residential area.
Cons: Would be an attraction to have air conditioning in the rooms.
Location: Within walking distance of downtown and harbour
It would have been better with Air Conditioning in the rooms as July is usually very hot in Victoria. The breakfast and breakfast hours very good. Staff very helpful. Pub relaxing.

Cute & Convenient

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Cons: New carpeting in guest rooms
The room was clean but small in this historic inn. Rate was very reasonable compared to other properties. Didn't think much of the carpeting throughout, but the cleanliness of the bathroom more than made up for it. Good coffee and flavored water in the lobby was a nice touch. The location was great as a base for walking around Victoria. The restaurant was fine for breakfast (though somewhat pricey) The windows actually open allowing for fresh air, which was great, and some street noise, which was less great. We were on the third floor (no elevator) and had lots of luggage. Someone helped us with our bags right away. Overall, a good experience.

Central, not too noisy with easy parking

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Nice central hotel, probably not the best place to stay in the height of summer as there is no air con. Basic facilities, scores very high on cleanliness. Rooms are fine but don't expect tea/coffee making or hair dryers
