Wonderful location in a delightful seaside townPosted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: We especially liked the modern style and the waterfront setting. The town of Sidney has done a marvellous job of maintaining the downtown core
Cons: The dining room has poor acoustics. On a busy night, it is hard to hear or speak to your table mates
Location: Right on the scenic waterfront although there is no swimming since the water is frigid all year but good walking, and beach-combing and scenic tours.
We just stayed one night but should have booked longer. The property is first rate in every aspect from location to staff to amenities.

Nice placePosted Dec 29, 2013
Cons: Room was a bit noisy due to HVAC or something similar
Our stay was brief - we just wanted a spot closer to the airport than our house is. Very nice facilities and pleasant staff.

Pros: See above. And the location is gorgeous.
Cons: See above.
This is a beautiful hotel. We had dinner there and it was lovely. The staff were great. But when you walk into this hotel, you don't get a sense of care. ie the rug in the main hall sitting area is dirty. I noticed it right away and felt that things looks a little messy. Additionally, our room carpet had a large dirty spot right outside the bathroom. It looks like a stain that can't be removed, but then change the carpet! Its a turn off. The plastic tub map was also not too impressive looking. As a result of this I wondered how much care had been taken with the cleaning as a whole. When we left the room, the cleaning staff were in the hallway. We smiled and said good morning but didn't get a response. Not even eye contact. This makes me wonder how happy your cleaning staff is and the level of training. I think this is an area you need to look into.

ExcellentPosted Sep 9, 2013
Cons: There is no breakfast provide but there is a little cafe within the hotel for coffee and pastries etc
Location: Right on the water front. Whale watching on a zodiac is a must.
It is always gratifying when you find a hotel that you book via the Internet far exceeds your expectations and this was one of those times.

Perfect stay!Posted Sep 9, 2013
Paid for a Seaview room but the room was on the 2nd floor which wasn't a very good view mostly saw a roof. Called the front desk they were VERY accommodating put us up on the 4th floor the view there was PERFECT. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant downstairs was delicious, service was awesome had some entertainment in the lounge. The bed was super comfy. The room has a sliding door that opens (no deck which is fine as we didn't spend time in the room) but we enjoyed the fresh air. It was super quiet. All in all the perfect stay!

The centrepiece of Sidney by the SeaPosted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: The fresh, modern but warm atmosphere of hotel, staff and surroundings appealed as well as the beautiful setting looking out to Sidney Island.
Cons: Just keep up the good work!
Location: Close to BC Ferries at Swartz Bay and US ferry to Anacortes, Butchart Gardens, marinas, Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre, short drive to downtown Victoria.
Having made a reservation for 3 in one room the hotel accommodated our needs in every way. The fact that, for a small hotel, there are both a very excellent restaurant for lunch and dinner as well as an excellent coffee shop/deli serving delicious deli style breakfasts and light lunches. The coffee shop patrons can spill over into the well appointed reception sitting area of the hotel and in addition tea, coffee and other deli treats can be ordered and enjoyed in the comfort of one's room. Walks on the Sidney waterfront are just outside the front door as is the sea and the views of the beautiful BC coast. For a very reasonable fee there is overnight underground parking for registered guests and free parking for diners at the restaurant. We entertained twice on our stay and our outside guests had no problem securing parking for our dinner times. Our room had a beautiful view of Sidney Island and the fishing pier and the amenities in the room were entirely satisfactory. The rooms are well designed and comfortable and the furnishings new and very well maintained. Wi-Fi at no cost was big plus for those of us that need to stay connected. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. Full marks over all.

Good & not so good.Posted Aug 1, 2013
Pros: The location and the staff.
Cons: As I mentioned, in the bathroom.
Location: It isn't too far from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal on Vancouver Island and about 1/2 ride to Victoria BC from there. Peaceful, flat, easy walking.
The staff are friendly, extremely helpful. The food and staff in the restaurant Haro was excellent/ My friend & I both in our 80's needed a bathroom with grab bars & an accessible shower which was not available. My friend was unable to climb into the tub as it was quite deep and the shower glass shield made it very awkward to access the taps. There were no grab bars within the tub and the safety bath mat for the tub I didn't find until the morning we were leaving. My friend had to sponge bath for 2 days. I was able to access the shower in the tub but very carefully by holding onto the sturdy towel rack on the wall. Other hotels we have stayed in were able to supply a portable grab bar. The morning we were leaving my friend made mention of the problem and we were informed they had 2 rooms with walk in shower. We have the numbers and will use those for future reference. There also was no stool or bench where you could sit to dry your feet etc, in the bathroom. In every other respect it's an excellent hotel in a lovely setting right at the harbour & we had a small balcony with chairs and table which we utilized. It is dog friendly. Their dog is a black lab called Dave.

A Room with a viewPosted Jul 25, 2013
It was wonderful to arrive so late at night but still receive good service and rest in such a lovely room with a fabulous view of Sidney Pier! We returned for a 2nd night's stay and were pleasantly surprised to receive a vip card affording us a 15% discount on our dinner at Haro's that night. It would have been nice if a complimentary breakfast was included. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and hope to return in the future.
