“Rooms Very Clean & Up-to-date”
We were very impressed with how clean and comfortable our room was. Nice sitting chair and perfect bed mattress. The room was supplied wet bar, dishes and silverware which was unexpected. For the price it was a great buy with it being so close to downtown. The outside needs a little work like landscaping and lighting or something. So don’t let the outside appearance fool you. If your just interested in a place to sleep after walking around all day, this hotel was great.
“Not a great place...”
Super 8 wasnt upto the expectation, fairly old building that hasnt been maintained well. Rooms have a small A/C outfitted which are noisy. Plus is that parking is free. Breakfast is ok, not great.
“A little out of the way”
We chose this hotel because of the cheap nightly rate. It is a little ways from downtown, but there is a bus stop across from the hotel and if you leave the hotel in the morning not expecting to return until later, it's not a big problem. If you want to go back to the hotel during the day, it could get annoying. If you take the bus and you need to change buses to get to your destination, make sure you get a transfer ticket when you pay so you do not have to pay for the next bus within 60 minutes. Another note is when the bus (the 22 at least) gets to the bus stop by McDonalds, that is your exit point for downtown area. It's a short walk further down to get to everything. There is a liquor store beside the hotel, but we honestly never would have known it was there if we had not seen it. The bar area in the hotel has been closed for the past year so no worries about that. The carpet is a little worn in the rooms, but that did not bother us too much. Breakfast is your typical complimentary breakfast with cereal, oatmeal packets, bagels, and a small selection of pastries, but it's better than having to go out for breakfast somewhere.
“Nice Super 8, noisy room”
The room was clean and tidy (with multiple electrical outlets which is can be very rare in rooms. The downside was that the room faced west (on the 2nd floor) where Douglas Street and Burnside Drive intersect so there was steady din of car, truck and bus noises. The air conditioner/heater was a window unit that was really loud. So combined it was a very very noisy room. We did not complain however because we were so late (and tired) plus we did not come to Victoria for the lodging. In a nutshell we survived a noisy hotel room. The continental breakfast was not worth the extra cost. There is a restaurant across the street and a McDonalds further down too. Anyone else staying here, as for a higher floor on the north or east side.
“Friendly place !!”
The staff at reception was extremely helpful and friendly. Quiet place and lots of parking space. Very satisfied.
“Victoria's Super Super 8”
From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. Hugh was on hotel reception that evening...he was professional yet had a friendly demeanor. When we asked for another set of towels he brought them to our room in good time. Very good experience with the staff in general. The room was clean, tidy and, air conditioned. Beds were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was also very clean. Would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Victoria as the hotel is on the main street leading into downtown and the harbour where all the wonderful sights are. Do keep your eyes open as the turnoff for the hotel is not signposted. Parking was good.
“Will you make the same mistake?”
When approaching the Super 8 hotel, Victoria, it is VERY difficult to see the entrance. There is a 'Super 8' neon sign on the roof.......so you know you are close BUT the entrance (as it works out is a English Heritage pub and a name of a club that I have no need to remember!)the result being I parked in the adjacent parking lot, then after being told by the receptionist, I needed to drive around the block to drive into the hotel parking lot. So I am suggesting the signage for the entrance could be made available/visible. Overall we were happy with the hotel, tho breakfast ends at 9, which to me is too early, so the breakfast room gets too full and people have to return to their rooms or sit in the lobby.
