Pros: The location is great -- within easy walking distance of the museum and the rest of downtown.
Cons: An update, but then it would likely be as expensive as the rest of the inner harbor.
Location: We love the Royal British Columbia Museum! Unfortunately, the wax museum is now gone, as is the underwater aquarium, both of which we miss. :(
Check-in was unexceptional; staff was pleasant, but eating lunch in the lobby when we arrived. Our two-room suite was large, and clean, which is the most important issue for me when staying anywhere. Furnishings were in good shape but of poor quality, and this place has a definite 1970s government-housing feel to it (I grew up in government housing, so I know what I'm talking about). Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. The food area was so cramped only one person could serve themselves at a time, so you waited in line for each person to get all of their food, and the food wasn't worth the wait: hard boiled eggs that were so firm they seemed to have been microwaved, again and again; teeny tiny pieces of melon that were supposed to pass as slices but which had more rind than what was edible; and toast was the main attraction, but there were only two toasters and so you waited to use them, as well. If you're looking for inexpensive, and clean, and could not care less about the quality of furnishings, go for it. If you want updated furnishings, quality carpeting and towels, a pretty atmosphere, look elsewhere. In this case, you get what you pay for, which isn't a lot.

Pros: We liked the location. The room was quiet and clean.
Location: Location was great. We were close enough for a walk to "downtown" and the Parliament Building. Great experience there.
What a great and beautiful area to stay. We celebrated our 50th anniversary there and are planning to return in a couple of years. The staff at the Admiral Inn was very helpful. Our room was truly our home away from home. We have told many of our stay there and the closeness to other great attractions in Victoria.

Needs refurbishingPosted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: the complimentary all day coffee
Cons: pretty much eveything
Location: there is lots to do and see in downtown Victoria all in walking distance
The place was old and had that musty smell about it, the bathroom was not a pleasant experience, moldy tiles held together with silicone, faucets and shower head needed replacing, kitchen area not much better, the continental breakfast was a joke, toast, boiled eggs and fruit (not very continental), the free cable tv- there was maybe 8 - 10 channels that actually worked out of them 4 where such a poor signal they kept on breaking up so where unwatchable, the cleaning staff where very nice and polite, so where the management. I think one of the reasons they get people staying is because they allow pets. Will never stay there again

Older hotel but right on the harbourPosted Sep 29, 2014
Upon checking in found out that there were no 2 double bed rooms available although our confirmation clearly indicated that we had a reservation for a room with two double beds. We were given a room with one Queen and a double sofa bed and of course the sofa bed was very uncomfortable. This hotel seriously needs a major refit.

Accommodations with character!Posted Sep 27, 2014
Pros: The location & price
Cons: It could be a bit more modern/renovations
Location: In the heart of the Victoria, short walk to tourist attractions, shops and restaurants.
Friendly front desk staff & cosy breakfast area. Loved the outdoor patios/views on each side of the room and that it was apartment style/you have your own entrance. Couldn't get a better location for the price.

Good base for exploring VancouverPosted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: Location, value for money, friendly & helpful staff, comfortable and well-equipped room
Cons: The basic decor was dated - but by now is being improved; the elevator was slow; the air-conditioning was a bit noisy.
Location: Ideally placed for the city, with many good restaurants nearby as well as excellent coffee shops and the well-stocked Wholefood Market.
Greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable, if a little dated (but note that hotel is clawing for refurbishment this month). Had everything we needed, including a good kitchenette, and wifi worked well. Had good weather and breakfast on the balcony was very pleasant. Hotel was well-placed for exploring the city and the room rates wee very fair.

Nice accommodation for the right pricePosted Sep 17, 2014
Friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable staff and a clean, decently sized room. Mattress was a bit soft but that's personal preference. Pretty close to downtown but no so close that it was noisy. I'd stay here again.
