Fancy older hotel

Posted Jul 29, 2014
This hotel is beautiful everywhere except inside the bedrooms where there is no air conditioning, the windows do no open enough upper part or lower part enough to allow for air to flow through. In fact the rooms were not any better then many motels that I have stayed the cost half as much. The public areas are very nice but all are not original to the hotels age. The totem poles are not real in a region where they could have been at the time the hotel was made. The garage is not accessible to the physically disable and so are many of the public spaces.

Beautiful views

Posted Jul 29, 2014
The Empress has beautiful views. The rooms are charming. The staff is helpful. The swimming pool and hot tub were wonderful. The best part of our stay was having tea. High tea was lovely, with more than enough to eat. Our waitress was very personable, and on top of every need.

Lovely historical hotel

Posted Jul 28, 2014
The first time I visited Victoria I saw this hotel and really wished i was staying there. This time around we were in Victoria for 2 nights and spent them at this historic hotel. The grounds and common rooms are lovely. We didn't do the high tea because we had a small baby with us, wish we could have experienced that. We did get drinks in the terrace overlooking the water. The staff were very helpful and courteous. A must stay if you can afford it.

Pros: Charming.
Cons: Rooms are small which makes it difficult for two travelers if you are staying more than a night or two.
Landmark hotel centrally located was a nice experience.

Exquisite Hotel

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Cons: I didn't find the Bengal Room to be very appealing, but that could be because I came later in the evening when there was just a few patrons.
Wonderful Staff: Very Professional, Friendly and Courteous. I have been in the Hospitality Industry for 30 years and the first thing I look at is Employee behavior in any Establishment. Everyone I Met and Spoke with where Knowledged, Attentive and had a Positive Attitude....Thank You to all of them for making my Stay so much more Enjoyable.

One of the grand Canadian Pacific Hotels

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Staying at the Empress is like checking into a well maintained museum
Location: The wharf, downtown shops and Victoria's finest restaurants are all within easy walking distance
We always enjoy our stays at the Empress. Its like stepping back in time to the late 1800's early 1900's when Canadian Pacific offered first class travelers luxurious hotels, ships and trains.

Nice hotel, a little on the old side.

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Location, swimming pool.
Cons: Everything is a bit old. New windows?
Location: Right by the Victoria harbor. Lot's of food/shopping/walking nearby.
Room was nice and comfortable but everything in it was a bit dated. Especially windows looked like they could use replacement. Location was perfect for a short stay in Victoria and the pool was very nice (the pool was why we chose the hotel in the first place). Our room wasn't ready when we got there and they gave us a few free drink coupons to make up for the hour wait. They charge for internet but happily removed the charge at checkout time. Most of the hotel needs renovation.

Love It!

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: High price for parking. $30.00 per day is a bit much, and there should be alternatives.
Location: View, shopping, and day trips to explore
We have stayed at the Empress and love the ambience and service from the staff. A wonderful location with great view of the harbor.

Historic hotel

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: great central location
Cons: I think the price of the rooms is too high for the size and quality of the room.
The hotel is nice, the rooms are functional but very small. Centrally located within walking distance of the ferry terminal. Make reservations for tea in advance of arrival or there may not be seating.
