Iconic Hotel in the best location on the Harbor.

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Location, architectural character.
Cons: Opening the Veranda earlier. It opens for lunch and breakfast there would be really nice.
Location: Located on the edge of the downtown shopping and historic area. Tough to find a better location.
Grand public spaces in the original buildings. Wonderful Veranda on the harbor for outdoor eating. Exceptional staff. High Tea was a very nice event with great snacks and beautiful bone china made for Queen Elizabeth's visit in 2002.

Grand hotel with first rate service

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: Drinks and appetizers on the Veranda. High Tea in the afternoon.
Cons: Room air conditioning would have been nice. Also, hotel tour for paying guests should have been gratis rather than thirteen Canadian Dollars each.
Location: Great location across from the water. Only a couple of blocks from Beacon Hill - one of the nicest, animal friendly parks that I've ever enjoyed.
Everything was well above average except for the room air temperature on hot days. No air conditioning is the only detraction (other than the prices) from an otherwise wonderful experience.

You can't go wrong with the Fairmont!

Fantastic location. Charming hotel. Stayed with 2 young kids and got to Victoria late. Crib and playpen were already set up in the room. Service there is exceptional!

Great hotel as expected

Everything was excellent except for the old facilities which sometimes made a little inconvenient. For example, the window could only open a little bit, and shower water was a bit cold. Other than that everything looks perfect

Attractive comfortable room

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Very pleasant interior design of rooms, location.
Cons: As seniors, we had some frustrations: coffee maker, TV remote battery dead, no internet, outlet on switch.
Location: Above
Attractive, comfortable room in a perfect location for exploring Victoria's waterfront, BC Museum, Art Gallery, Laurel Point, Beacon Hill Park, Emily Carr House, etc.

Fancy older hotel

Posted Jul 29, 2014
This hotel is beautiful everywhere except inside the bedrooms where there is no air conditioning, the windows do no open enough upper part or lower part enough to allow for air to flow through. In fact the rooms were not any better then many motels that I have stayed the cost half as much. The public areas are very nice but all are not original to the hotels age. The totem poles are not real in a region where they could have been at the time the hotel was made. The garage is not accessible to the physically disable and so are many of the public spaces.

Beautiful views

The Empress has beautiful views. The rooms are charming. The staff is helpful. The swimming pool and hot tub were wonderful. The best part of our stay was having tea. High tea was lovely, with more than enough to eat. Our waitress was very personable, and on top of every need.

Lovely historical hotel

Posted Jul 28, 2014
The first time I visited Victoria I saw this hotel and really wished i was staying there. This time around we were in Victoria for 2 nights and spent them at this historic hotel. The grounds and common rooms are lovely. We didn't do the high tea because we had a small baby with us, wish we could have experienced that. We did get drinks in the terrace overlooking the water. The staff were very helpful and courteous. A must stay if you can afford it.

Pros: Charming.
Cons: Rooms are small which makes it difficult for two travelers if you are staying more than a night or two.
Landmark hotel centrally located was a nice experience.

Exquisite Hotel

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Cons: I didn't find the Bengal Room to be very appealing, but that could be because I came later in the evening when there was just a few patrons.
Wonderful Staff: Very Professional, Friendly and Courteous. I have been in the Hospitality Industry for 30 years and the first thing I look at is Employee behavior in any Establishment. Everyone I Met and Spoke with where Knowledged, Attentive and had a Positive Attitude....Thank You to all of them for making my Stay so much more Enjoyable.
