Excellent boutique hotel in downtown Victoria

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: Location, room size, room decor and staff
Location: 5 min walk from downtown Victoria, BC Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum and Main Street downtown (Government street), one block from Inner Harbour
We stayed at Oswego for two nights. We were in a studio apt room which was very spacious and excellent for two adults and a baby. The room was extremely clean and well decorated and very tidy. The kitchen was fully equipped with cookware, baking ware and a French press that we used every morning. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and always interested to hear how our trip was and whether we needed anything else. They also offered to provide a crib for the baby but we brought a pack n play already. The staff helped us to book a whale watching excursion which was the highlight of our trip. One of the great things about our stay was that in the evening, while we were out, the hotel staff would come check up on our room and leave water and chocolate on our night stands. We really liked that touch. We also ordered from the restaurant for breakfast and enjoyed breakfast in bed. Everything was delicious. Last but not least, the location was excellent, only a 5 min walk from the BC Parliament buildings, Royal BC Museum and downtown Victoria. We will definitely stay there again when we go back.

Best stay in Victoria!

By far the best hotel in Victoria. After a long day of work, it is an absolute pleasure to come back to this hotel that has every amenity anyone could ask for. I will never stay anywhere else.

Nice hotel in quiet area, but close to downtown.

This is a very nice hotel- clean, modern & trendy, and close to downtown. I was able to easily walk to downtown, and the Victoria Conference Center, even in heals! They had a weekly jazz night downstairs in the lounge that provided a nice atmosphere for a beverage at the end of a long day.

Very central yet quiet location.

Loved our stay at the Oswego and will definitely stay again. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable- my best customer service experience to date. Rooms were newly decorated and flooded with natural light. Fully equipped kitchenette and super comfortable beds. A fantastic experience all around.

Comfortable suite for 3.

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: The well stocked kitchen and the balcony.
Location: The location is just a short walk from the inner harbor area and allowed us to see many of the attractions without a drive- very convenient.
We stayed 3 nights, my wife, my daughter, granddaughter (1 yr. old) and I, midweek in early September. Our room was well appointed, furniture comfortable, and the kitchen well-stocked for cooking our own meals (lunch and breakfast mostly). The balcony was designed to avoid any mishaps with a toddler which was significant in our case. The restaurant was good for the one night we ate there and the 2-piece jazz duo was entertaining on Wednesday evening, a nice touch to avoid having to go out looking for something to do.

Get a room on upper floors

Posted Oct 12, 2014
The room was nice enough and was in a good location. However, as my husband had to work late, we had a late check in (about 10 pm). Front desk staff was great. I noticed that we got a room on the 2nd floor. I asked for something higher up but since the hotel was quite booked we didn't have a choice. :( It was a nice studio room some stains on carpet. It was warm even though one window was open and the ceiling fan was on (it's early October). We turned in and I couldn't sleep. The pillows were not very comfy for me as they were too soft. The bed was short sheeted and I had to slide down the bed. Between 1-2 am several sirens went off. Also the guests coming back from clubbing were noisy. Other hotels have rules about that. Needless to say, this was not my idea of a great sleep. I would recommend only if the person is able to get a room on upper floors.

Wonderful hotel with great staff

Posted Oct 10, 2014
The rooms are clean and well appointed. The lobby and lounge are inviting and comfortable. The best part, however, is the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. When I lost my room key while running, they made me a new one no problem. The turn down service is fantastic! I loved the mint water on the nightstand. I also encourage visiting the O Bistro. The food is first rate and the service impeccable. I will absolutely return. This is now my go to hotel in Victoria.

Nice weekend stay

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: Proximity to downtown while being relatively quiet, comfortable rooms and pleasing decor
Cons: Lack of AC unit and difficulty in air circulating the room due to window design, restaurant choices is a bit limited
Location: Tucked away one block away from the Parliament, it is an excellent location and close to the harbour and the express hotel, 10 mins walk from shops
Check in and room are pleasant, parking is a bit expensive and I think the charges should be waived, but all in all the room is nice, kitchen well stocked and room is comfortable. Restaurant food is ok but would prefer more choices, and the rooms need air cons as air does not flow well within.
