Very central yet quiet location.

Loved our stay at the Oswego and will definitely stay again. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable- my best customer service experience to date. Rooms were newly decorated and flooded with natural light. Fully equipped kitchenette and super comfortable beds. A fantastic experience all around.

Comfortable suite for 3.

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: The well stocked kitchen and the balcony.
Location: The location is just a short walk from the inner harbor area and allowed us to see many of the attractions without a drive- very convenient.
We stayed 3 nights, my wife, my daughter, granddaughter (1 yr. old) and I, midweek in early September. Our room was well appointed, furniture comfortable, and the kitchen well-stocked for cooking our own meals (lunch and breakfast mostly). The balcony was designed to avoid any mishaps with a toddler which was significant in our case. The restaurant was good for the one night we ate there and the 2-piece jazz duo was entertaining on Wednesday evening, a nice touch to avoid having to go out looking for something to do.

Get a room on upper floors

Posted Oct 12, 2014
The room was nice enough and was in a good location. However, as my husband had to work late, we had a late check in (about 10 pm). Front desk staff was great. I noticed that we got a room on the 2nd floor. I asked for something higher up but since the hotel was quite booked we didn't have a choice. :( It was a nice studio room some stains on carpet. It was warm even though one window was open and the ceiling fan was on (it's early October). We turned in and I couldn't sleep. The pillows were not very comfy for me as they were too soft. The bed was short sheeted and I had to slide down the bed. Between 1-2 am several sirens went off. Also the guests coming back from clubbing were noisy. Other hotels have rules about that. Needless to say, this was not my idea of a great sleep. I would recommend only if the person is able to get a room on upper floors.

Wonderful hotel with great staff

Posted Oct 10, 2014
The rooms are clean and well appointed. The lobby and lounge are inviting and comfortable. The best part, however, is the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. When I lost my room key while running, they made me a new one no problem. The turn down service is fantastic! I loved the mint water on the nightstand. I also encourage visiting the O Bistro. The food is first rate and the service impeccable. I will absolutely return. This is now my go to hotel in Victoria.

Nice weekend stay

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: Proximity to downtown while being relatively quiet, comfortable rooms and pleasing decor
Cons: Lack of AC unit and difficulty in air circulating the room due to window design, restaurant choices is a bit limited
Location: Tucked away one block away from the Parliament, it is an excellent location and close to the harbour and the express hotel, 10 mins walk from shops
Check in and room are pleasant, parking is a bit expensive and I think the charges should be waived, but all in all the room is nice, kitchen well stocked and room is comfortable. Restaurant food is ok but would prefer more choices, and the rooms need air cons as air does not flow well within.

Self-contained suites close to waterfront

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location! Very comfy beds, nice large bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Bistro lounge had a great atmosphere. On site laundry.
Cons: Housekeeping
Location: 2 blocks from waterfront, BC museum, Bateman museum, legislative buildings. Short walk to Beacon Hill Park, downtown shops, good bars and restaurants
Great location in James Bay area, very walkable to downtown, museums, the waterfront and parks. Updated d├ęcor throughout, nice bistro lounge for meals and drinks, friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable beds. The coffee provided in the suite was a poor quality. Housekeeping needs improvement - we had to use the same small bar of soap for 5 days and the bathroom products were never replaced. I spilled something on the night table on the first night and the stain remained there for our 5 day stay.

One small bit of advice.

Posted Sep 28, 2014
If you stay at the Oswego during the warmer weather don't stay in the '08s. The sun beats down on these rooms & it can become very warm as there are wall to wall windows and no a/c. There are ceiling fans & the staff will bring floor fans for you and there is a balcony which makes the evening very comfortable but too warm during the day. Otherwise this hotel is perfect. Great location. Quiet. The kitchen is fully equipped with quality appliances. Staff is exceptionally friendly & helpful. And try to find a moment to enjoy a cold craft draft beer at their bar.
