Nice place and so convenient...

Posted Jan 30, 2015
Pros: The Opernring was originally an apartment block built at the turn of the century and maintains some original features.
Location: Almost opposite the State Opera House - you cannot get more central!
The Opernring is great in this price range - it's right in the centre and all Vienna's sights are within walking distance. The staff at the desk are helpful and the buffet breakfast, served in a quiet sedate dining room, was top notch with a wide range of continental items on offer but also included hot offerings like bacon, eggs and sausage. Even though the interior is perhaps a bit dated, the beds are comfy, the rooms are very clean and the bathroom was spotless. Temperatures when we visited were below freezing all day but inside the hotel it was toasty. I don't know why some people complain that it's noisy there... what do you expect...you are in the centre of a capital city - not in a mountain village!! Vienna is not a rowdy place anyway though, of course, there is traffic in the street outside but it did not disturb us and we had the window open all night but you closed it, you would hardly notice a thing.

Mitten in Wien

Posted Jan 4, 2015

Good, friendly hotel in central location

Posted Dec 28, 2014
Pros: Well-placed for a city break; free wifi throughout the hotel; breakfasts were good also.
Cons: The hotel is fine as-is but be aware that this is not the place to stay if you are looking for full catering or hotel bar etc.
Location: Great central location near Karlsplatz on the U-bahn and the Museums Quarter, and just across from the Opera and the Mozart cafe (one of many to try).
We stayed in Das Opernring for a week, including Christmas. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms comfortable and clean.

Bel hôtel bien situé

Posted Dec 15, 2014

Very close to the centre

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: Very friendly and informative staff
Cons: The hotel is an old building, but that is the charm of vienna
Location: Opposite the opera house. Easy travel to and from the airport. The Christmas markets were everywhere and within easy walking distance
Superb location within easy walk to many of the sites.

Hotel in guter, zentraler Lage

Posted Dec 7, 2014

Centrally located, near public transport.

Posted Dec 4, 2014
Pros: Location, friendly staff, general cleanliness.
Cons: Offer a double/king bed instead of two singles.
Location: Museum quarter (Leopold, Natural History). Town hall (esp. for Christmas market). Stephansplatz. Opera house. Figlmüller restaurant. Cafe Central.
Nice, central location close to the main attractions. Go left out of the hotel, and you're in the museum quarter in minutes; go right, and you're immediately at the Opera House; go straight on for 10 minutes and you're right in the heart of the city. You're close to Karlsplatz station for an easy journey to Schönbrunn Palace. The breakfast was pretty decent, with enough variety to keep you going. The staff were helpful on arrival, giving us a quick rundown of where to go, what to see, where to eat etc. The only real negative, if I'll call it that, is having two single beds instead of a double/king, as having them pushed together isn't ideal.
