Hotel without proper InternetPosted Sep 29, 2013
Cons: Consider Internet service like hot water, a necessity that needs to be provided with a 99% of the time reliability.
Location: You have to take the U-Bahn to get to the center. It is easy to do.
I travel a lot. I normaly stay in 4 or 5 star hotels. My basic requirements are : a room, a good bed, a shower and proper INTERNET. And that last thing is a MUST. The front desk of that hotel was occupied mostly by disapointed guests ( to say the very least) wondering how they could connect and the clerk having to explain that it did not work in the rooms and for long periods of time (hours on end), not even in the lobby or the building. And to make maters worst, people from the hotel did not look like this was a major problem. This went on all 3 days I was there. Hotels should now consider Internet service like hot water, it is for most people a must as it is for me. If I had know, I would not have book there. And this is what a lot of people were saying out load in the lobby. For the hotel itself, location is good, about 300 meters from the Ubahn. It is located in a charming little alley. If you have limited mobility, be aware that you will have to walk about 150 meters on a nice but uneven surface to get to the entrance. Cars do not enter the alley. Rooms are a lillte old but are clean. People were friendly and polite even when gests were frustrated. For the way this hotel seems to consider Internet service, I would not recommend this hotel unless you appreciate being totally TOTALLY disconnected. The experience was a bit like 30 years ago. I was in Prague the weekend after at the Corinthia Hotel, wow, that is a good place to be.

A pleasant, reasonably central hotel.Posted Sep 25, 2013
Pros: Although the room was on the small side it fulfilled all our requirements and the location was reasonably central and we felt safe at night.
Cons: Wi-Fi is only available on the ground floor/lobby area, not in the rooms. Even in late September the room was always too warm, even with an open window
Location: Try the 1516 pub or the neighbouring Schwartzenberg pub for excellent home brew beer ( 20 minute walk thru the Stadtpark). Schonbrunn palace is a must
This older style hotel is accessed from the road along a cobbled alleyway, so traffic noise is minimal. It is reasonably central ( about a 20 minutes walk to St. Stephen's cathedral) and the nearest metro station (on the direct U4 line to the Shonbrunn palace) is only a 5 minute walk away. If you turn right out of the hotel on to the main street there are shops and cafes. If you turn left out of the hotel you come to a smaller street (the Ungargasse) which has an Indian, a Mexican, an Italian (excellent) and a Japanese restaurant. There is also a pub/restaurant called the Bierteufl (reasonable food and great beer) and a small, grungy pub called the Café Malipop which you will either love or hate (we loved it). The hotel itself served all our needs, although we only slept in it and didn't use any of the facilities. Relatively small quibbles are mentioned below. The front desk service was excellent and the room was cleaned in a timely and efficient way. The hotel and surroundings were nice and quiet.

The staff was excellent! Every time I had a question or needed assistance, they were right there. Close to the key Metro stops and the main Vienna attractions. Numerous choices for restaurants and ice cream very close by. Front desk arranged airport transport door to door at a reasonable rate Flawless service with a smile!

Typical Viennese hotelPosted Jun 22, 2013
Pros: The ample rooms and style
Location: There are many restaurants and shops in the area and it is within walking distance of the center
The entrance of this hotel is through a courtyard street, with little shops and an al fresco restaurant. The hotel also has an attractive winter garden and very ample rooms.
