Good hotelPosted Jun 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
We arrived late and went to the restaurant about 45 minutes before closing. The hostess informed us that the kitchen proper was closed but that she could make us some toast. Initially we were disappointed but the hot ham and cheese on toast she brought us was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel if you are visiting Schoennbrun Palace.

Hotel and staff were fine. Food was ordinary but portions generous.

hotel Bergwit quiet locationPosted Jan 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
We really liked the location across from the palace and gardens property and up the hill from the U Bahn. Room was great for family of four. Loved the quaint older period architecture. Also great no nonsense deal.

Great Stay in Vienna in this price range.Posted Sep 17, 2012
I loved this hotel. The room is somewhat small - but that is always so in Europe. The bathroom was great and my bed was fine. And it was the only hotel in Europe that had a radio. But the best thing about this hotel is the location. I was right behind Castle Schoenbrunn. It was a delightful walk to the castle. And there is a bus station just across the street from the hotel, and a U Bahn or S Bahn station just down the street. It only involves a few blocks of walking to S Bahn (which I enjoyed) On my walk I actually found an apartment with a small sign that read "Home of Johann Strauss" this was a very cool find. Vienna is very large - so the distance from Castle Schoenbrunn to Castle Belvedere was extensive.......but again you can buy a S Bahn Card for an entire day for about 6 Euros and you can see many many sights in one day. But again Vienna is HUGE you will need a minimum of 2 days. Familarize yourself with the bus and S Bahn destinations and you will be fine. I must add that I relied mostly on my German, which is not awful. The desk clerk I saw most mornings did not speak English. However, when I needed information on finding a train to Prague - the "ower" went on the internet for me and printed out the schedule and gave me exact instruction on taking the bus to the train station. i loved this hotel - especially for the price range - Do Not Miss Castle Schoenbrunn. Be advised I am 52 and fit and love to walk.

DissatisfiedPosted Sep 1, 2011
The reason I chose this hotel is because I wated to spend some time at Schonbrunn and this hotel is located right next to it. However, when I arrived I discovered that it is located right in front of a cemetery. Although the hotel is really authentic and old, there is no basic things like aircondittioning and noise cancelling windows. During the night it was hot inside but when we opened windows the noise from the traffic did not allow us to sleep. Result - sleepless night. I dont think I will choose this hotel again.

Summerstay at BergwirtPosted Aug 5, 2010
good location if you want to visit Schönbrunn. not optimal if you want to see downtown. you could get better location at the same price downtown. rooms are old. only bathroom recently renovated. great advantage - free Internet. service is lacking quality and personnel. reception desk was unattended most of the time because the same personnel serves the restaurant
