“Great Hotel with free minibar, just need a new mattress”

Overall great hotel. Good service and great location (right next to an underground station near U. of Vienna and City Hall) Good restaurants near by (e.g. Mr. Lee). The only hotel I ever know where the minibar is free! Room was much larger than rooms in average European hotels. Love the crystal chandeliers. However, a new mattress is needed. The one in my room was too squishy and gave me back pain.

“Don't be fooled”

It seems like you are out of the center of action, but the Hotel De France is ten minutes walk to everything and even less by u-bahn or tram. Our room was huge, the breakfasts were divine, all included. Our only caveat is that they seemed not to have tourist information in English, strange for a hotel that has so many tour groups using it. Also, internet is 12 bucks an hour, not very tourist friendly.

“A Viennese Delight”

After 7 days of residence there during a recent heat wave, we can only offer the highest praise for the Hotel de France. A welcoming, courteous and helpful staff, an extremely spacious, well air-conditioned and meticulously clean room, a superb location next to the Schottentor U-bahn station (and minutes by foot from the Stephansdom and the treasures of the inner city)and convenient access to some nearby first-rate restaurants and cafes (La Cantinetta, Ristorante Martinelli,Cafe Landtmann)all combine to make the HdF the best place to stay in Vienna for a very reasonable price. Our double room was enormous with a sofa and two lounge chairs in addition to the large bed, equipped with a huge bathroom (2 sinks, a separate tub and a separate shower) and a large separate dressing area with ample space for luggage and clothing storage. And added to this was a free minibar, generously restocked daily with mineral water, soft drinks, beer and a locally produced fruit brandy. The Hotel de France is a class act!

We loved this hotel. It is in a great location on the Ringstrasse. The room was very large - really a junior suite. I would rate it higher than 3.5 stars. PF

“Beatiful and comfortable hotel in Vienna”

This hotel makes you feel like in the Belle Epoque. They gave me a huge room with its own walk-in closet; felt more like an apartment. Nice decor and friendly staff. And it's in the historical center of Vienna, by the nice "Ring" boulevard, perfect for an evening promenade - definitely would stay again.

Had a great stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel was beautiful and the location was perfect. We were upgraded to a junior suite for no reason except that the hotel staff took pity on two people traveling from the US to Vienna. All I can say is if you are in Vienna--stay here.

We were very satisfied with the hotel, its staff and location. The service was excellent and the staff responsive. the food for the New years party was excellent and they did every thing right. this is an excellent hotel for it sprice range in the 4-5 star class.
