Champagne lifestyle on a Proseco budgetPosted May 6, 2014
Pros: Breakfast - lots of choice (including champagne to maintain that holiday feeling), regularly supplemented and a nice space to eat in
Cons: Long creaky corridor from the lift to the room - felt very guilty coming back late at night.
When you look at the location on a map, this hotel seems a little out of the way, but in reality it's very close to the centre. It's about a five minute walk to Swedensplatz or (for the brave or those who know their routes) the trams stop almost outside. We stayed in a room overlooking the courtyard, which was very quiet. The room was clean, fairly basic furnishing, but clean, well maintained and a reasonable size. There was a good sized en-suite bathroom (shower over the bath and a shower curtain rather than a separate cubicle) and a small walk-in wardrobe.

Nice hotel with real historyPosted Jun 29, 2013
Pros: Clean, friendly, well-situated and full of history
Cons: No improvements needed
Location: The location is great, near the river, near public transport, near the city ship terminal, near all kinds of shopping and dining.
Stayed five nights in the hotel. A good experience throughout the entire stay. The location is great - easy to reach and close to everything important. The staff was excellent throughout - very helpful and friendly. The included breakfast buffet is very complete and very good. It's an older hotel (my favorite kind) but has been modernized in the important areas without compromising the historical charm. When I say old I mean really old - it's the oldest hotel in Vienna. I told the staff I had read that it's over 300 years old. They smiled and said it's WAY over 300 years - in fact it's over 400 years old. Rooms are on the small side but this is central Europe and most rooms are that way. Overall a great experience and I would absolutely stay there again.

Inexpensive Vienna ElegancePosted Oct 29, 2011
It's not the Ritz, but it is really nice for the money. You have to put up with rooms that are a bit cramped but everything else about the place is just fine. Subdued elegance, very clean and neat, internet works fine, and the breakfast is just fabulous. You can eat so well that it saves you buying much of a lunch. Eggs, bacon, sausages, cold cuts, half a dozen different breads and rolls, many cheeses, a cappuccino/espresso machine, etc. Oh, and all the champagne you can drink ! There is a streetcar stop right down the street or you can walk to the subway station at Schwedenplatz in 5 minutes. I will be staying there again next time.

Close to everything but away from the crowdsPosted Jul 23, 2011
Clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was amazing! Close to the U Bahn and within walking distance to most of the sites. Located just outside the Ring (just over the bridge) so the prices are considerably cheaper than "Ring" hotels ... but close to everything and the area is not overrun with tourists. A bank, grocery store, Internet cafe, coffee shop across the street. Would definitely recommend the Stefanie Hotel!

An excellent hotel at an excellent price!Posted Nov 25, 2009
Hotel Stephanie was lovely! The hotel has been around for approx. 300 years , yet it has all the modern comforts like beautiful bathrooms and Wi Fi. It is decorated in a very classical style, with antiques everywhere, and really gives you the feeling of being in Vienna. The staff were excellent, the rooms were excellent, and the location was excellent. It is across the river - officially out of the downtown core - but it is only a ferw minutes walk across the river. The price was excellent for the value received.
