“Great location, friendly staff, perfect for family”
The hotel is located next to a large park, just 10 mins walk from the airport express train station.
Trams stop right outside the hotel.
The service was great. They had our room ready at 11am - handy as we took the overnight flight and our toddler had a meltdown. The Filipino staff at the door are especially warm, remembering us each day, and on the last day gave him little toys.
The room has a king size comfortable bed (hard to find "real" kings in European hotels), and an enormous bay window looking directly over the park. We watched the Vienna city marathon from our room one morning. The windows are soundproof.
The Internet is not free but they'll let you use the business lounge for online check-in without charge.
They have a medium sized indoor pool too.
Area recommendations
The main shopping street is just 5 mins away from the Marriott and there are several cafes & restaurants nearby, without the hotel being actually dead in the center of town.
Getting there
We easily wheeled our suitcases, pushed a stroller, and walked 2 blocks from the airport express train station, then diagonally across the park, and into the Marriott. (Just print a map so you know which direction to walk coming out of the station.)
On the way back with Star Alliance carriers you can check your luggage in directly at the station and collect boarding passes, so it's a breeze taking the train back to the airport - no taxi required.
Although it's ten euros for adults each way, the train is fast, comfortable, runs every half hour, and leaves you at the bottom of a lift leading directly to the airport terminal entrance.
Dining
By far the best place for brunch - and icecream! - is Zanoni & Zanoni located just two short blocks around the corner from Stephansplatz. (where Lugech strasse becomes Lichtensteg)
Be aware that many Austrian restaurants are not child-friendly. Ask the hotel concierge for advice on which ones will be pleased if you show up with kids in tow.
