Excellent location and facility for adult vacationPosted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: The setting is idyllic; the rooms are spacious and comfortable; the restaurant and other facilities are good.
Cons: The service is unreliable. Staff is generally friendly but often forget to follow up on requests or worse, don't pick up the phone.
Location: Beautiful but remote. This is a place to go if you just want to relax, sit on a beach, eat and drink.
We have returned to this idyllic location for three years straight, and we continue to love the facilities and the location. However, the service has declined markedly - there does not seem to be sufficient staff capacity. Calls to "wherever, whenever" routinely go unanswered, and they just aren't on top of things the way one expects from a W and used to be able to expect from this specific W.

Gorgeous hotel, amazing location, service lackingPosted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: Location, property design, room layout, amenities
Cons: Service, value for price
Location: Beach, horseback riding, kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding
This property bills itself as a W Retreat which would suggest that it's a relaxing place to stay. During our visit, the ONLY pool on the property was overrun with small children screaming and playing... certainly not the retreat i was expecting. The resort is beautiful and the rooms are well appointed and large. The major issue with this property is the level of service that one would expect at this price point. The staff is friendly and tries hard but misses the mark in a number of areas. Service at the pool was spotty. They ran out of towels and we waited for almost an hour for a new supply to be delivered. The four servers either came all at once or were completely absent for long periods of time. We found it easier to order drinks and food from the pool bar. At check-in, the bellman ("Ambassador" in W speak) handed us our backpacks to carry to our "Villa" while he dragged our rolling suitcase through the property's sandy/muddy paths. He provided no explanation as to the room's amenities or any of the resort's services. On the morning after our first night, i noticed lipstick on the pillow case (we don't use lipstick). I assumed that the sheets would be changed so i didn't make a big deal out of it. However, when we came back in the afternoon after the room had been cleaned, the same pillow case was still on the bed. "Style" swore that the sheets had been changed but it was clear they had not. We enjoyed our stay and the property but it's overpriced.

Nice room for the discount pricePosted Feb 11, 2015
Pros: We loved the lounge at the airport which made us feel really special when we arrived. On departure lounge was supposed to be open at 9 - wasn't...
Cons: Better trained wait staff - satisfy the guest.
Location: Had wonderful Mofongo at Sobores restaurant in Isabel. Hiked the beach on the western end of the island - so peaceful.
I am not sure I would have been happy if I had paid full price for this room. It just was not up to the 'W' standards that I am accustomed to or paying for. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room service and the poolside service people lacked skills, but the poolside bartender was great. We sat at the pool for 20 minutes without a single server asking us if we wanted anything. I am not sure why, but the Spanish speakers around us were asked several times while we sat there with nothing. We asked for additional water in the room and that took over an hour. The restaurant was average, we found much better food in the local restaurants.

Three star resort, at bestPosted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: snorkeling right off the hotel property to the rocks on the left side of the adult only beach
Cons: Customer service, particularly check in and follow up to promises made and never delivered.
Location: Rent a Jeep. Get off the resort to experience better restaurants. Great snorkeling all over, particularly La Chiva, #4. Go right to rocks.
To be a great hotel, it is the attention to details and following up on promises made. The property is nice. Hipster decor is pretty but maybe not so practical. Pool and beach guys nice. Pricy restaurant and food. Bring insect repellent and use it! Got bitten big time. Do not accept a ground floor room in 400 bldg unless you like walking thru mud.

For the life of me, I can't understand why this resort is not rated 5 star! We've been to some amazing places, the W is now up there on top. I would say it's the ONLY place to stay on Vieques. Rent a car (on or off site) and explore the breathtaking beaches. No need to pay for expensive snorkeling trips..,go to Green Beach & snorkel right off shore. The resort lets you take the snorkel equip (free), towels as well. Pack some food snacks before you go...nothing around. Eat dinner in Esperanza for amazing local fish, at a reasonable price. Resort food is very pricey, but they all are, so this is not a negative against the resort at all. Again, pictures do not do this resort justice. Adult oriented, however brought 12 & 14 yr old & they didn't want to leave :)

The hotel is fantastic, especially the beach, which is amazing. However, the hotel don't have enough stuff to serve the customers during the busy holidays.

RelaxingPosted Nov 26, 2014
Hotel was mostly great except for a few minor details (it took 2 days and several reminders to get a non-feather comforter). The place was beautiful in a natural way, and was very relaxing. I would stay there again!
