Good view of fireworks but not good locationPosted Jan 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
I spent one night at DA hotel to see the fireworks of NYE. For this purpose it was perfect, but the location of the hotel is not good to see the touristic points of Valparaiso.

Clean but lacking atmosphere.Posted Mar 22, 2013
This hotel is handy for the port , clean and modern, but it lacks any warmth or atmosphere ! The dining is expensive for an average quality meal.Mainly used for business purposes.

Excellent location, great staff. A/C non-existent!Posted Jul 24, 2012
Pros: Basic service: Concierge, Front desk
Cons: The non-existent air conditioning. Perhaps noise, as a consequence. Lack of response to the issue.
Location: It is in a very convenient part of Valparaiso -almost centric, near the Metro, one of the main squares, close to restaurants and two supermarkets.
The Diego de Almagro hotel is one of the nicer ones in Valparaiso -a port city loaded with history, but is also a bit old-fashioned, even scary in a street or two. This hotel is located in a very convenient place, in one of the safer parts of town. At the time I visited (a long weekend in Chile), people slowly trickled in until the underground parking filled up -I'm quite sure they had more capacity, though. Basic service is attentive, without being intrusive (except a bit lacking at the restaurant, but since I only used it for breakfast buffet, that didn't affect me much#. Location is pretty good: It is close to city center proper, and from it, you can navigate elsewhere by foot. It is also right next to the Bellavista Metro station; from there you can travel to nearby Viña del Mar #not sure if by doing that you'll save on your stay -Viña can be quite expensive). I'd rate it three-star as far as accomodations go. There was a wiring problem with the A/C-heater system; apparently I was one of four guests with the same issue. Rooms can get a bit hot, and when I tried to cool mine down, the A/C would only BLAST heat upon you, even when the thermostat was placed at 17 C/62 F. I called the front desk, alerted the maid, and Facilities never came to take a look. As a result, I had to endure noisy Errázuriz Ave. at night -had to open the window if I didn't want to bake myself. Make sure you understand billing terms before you book -the hotel will collect the fee, not Expedia.

Diego De Almagro...ValparaisoPosted Feb 12, 2012 on Hotels.com
Newer Hotel. Across from an above ground public train...and the ocean. Secure indoor parking. Good Wi-Fi connection. Very friendly staff. A buffet breakfast with many selections. We really enjoyed our stay.

Diego de Almagro Valparaiso-noisePosted Jan 27, 2012 on Hotels.com
Located on noisy street as well as internal hotel noise, do not stay here if you need a quiet room.

Diego de Almagro, Valparaiso - a great stayPosted Dec 11, 2011 on Hotels.com
Stayed here 10 days, and it was very comfortable and quiet inside. Excellent restaurant, although the staff is in no rush. Has a small heated pool, sauna, exercise room, wireless internet. Close to public transportation, the port area, stores, restaurants.
