“Great staff, location, food and view”
What an amzing hotel. The staff, the beautiful location with overhanging terrace viewing the city, the food could not have been better! It is a gem. The interior decor is different and eclectic, making io=t unique. Only drawback is the street noise at all hours, but this is normal in the city and cannot be avoided by this hotel. I was in Chile for 3 weeks and stayed in many hotels from Santiago, Valpo to Patagonia and without a doubt, the service and unusual nature of this hotel will always be a highlight of our trip. Thanks, Fauna....you are special.
“Hotel Fauna...highly recommended”
This was a really off beat hotel but excellent. Even our tour guide had a hard time finding it and he knew Valparaiso like the back of his hand. It's very laid back. The staff are super friendly and helpful. One piece of luggage didn't arrive and the concierge, Xavier, spent about 20 minutes on the phone with Avianca straightening out the problem. The view from the patio where you have breakfast is fantastic, a complete, unobstructed view of the city. The room was really different. It was decorated with recycled material (but obviously done professionally and tastefully) to create a unique living environment. Do not expect Holiday Inn. Valparaiso is a quirky town and this hotel reflects this spirit. No TV in room, almost no closet space, good internet, comfortable bed. The hotel is about two blocks from an ascensor which is a kind of lift that allows you to skip about a thousand stairs to go to the town's center.
“A great find”
This is a fonky little(as in small) hotel. Excellent restaurant. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Would definately stay again
“Fun place in a fun town”
This is an unusual and artsy boutique in an excellent section of Valparaiso. The staff was helpful, breakfast was delicious. A great value and location to explore the galleries, restaurants and culture of this interesting city. One possible problem is late night noise in the streets, however, it was a festival weekend so I suspect that the late (4 AM) noise we experienced is not the norm.
“Cool Spot - very Hip”
This is a hip little hotel with a great vibe and a cool staff. It is not your typical hotel - in a good way. The front desk is in the restaurant on the top floor and when I arrived there was a musician playing violin and accordion entertaining the restaurant guests. The restaurant is a balcony overlooking the city and port below. It was a great first impression. While there is no TV or desk in the room, and the Wifi would not work in my room, the charm of the hotel more than made up for the "technological" short-comings and the sparsely appointed room. It is easier to get to the hotel on foot then by cab, you have to take one of the cities many elevators up to the small alley that the hotel is on, which only adds to the charm of the place. Quaint, comfortable and fitting of the town of Valparaiso, which is a big port with a small to feel.
