Trip up North

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: The beds were great and breakfact in the monring was very good.
Cons: Less nightly noise from trains.
Only issue was location of hotel which was next to a busy railroad track. Hard to get a sound night's sieep with trains going by less than a block away. I would suggest a room in the front facing the highway, if you don't like train noise.

CAUTION: Railroad Right There

Posted Oct 12, 2013
Pros: The room size was great.
Cons: Better coffee mess (coffee and condiments) in the room. You provide service for two pots of coffee, but the condiments are only enough for 1 cup?
Location: Location was terrible, ... significant highway and railroad sandwich the hotel.
While the room was pretty nice that I had, the biggest problem is that the hotel is situated along a highway, and is across the street from a VERY busy railway. Out of the three nights I was there, the minimum number of trains during the night that I recall was three (3). The room was great otherwise, with the exception that housekeeping did not cleanout the coffeemaker or replenish the coffee mess sufficiently. I did not complain about this since there is also a coffee area in the lobby. The trains were just too much!!!

Nice hotel but by a railroad crossing

Posted Sep 23, 2013
Pros: Clean and friendly staff.
The train tracks are 50 yards from window and they have to blow their horns for the crossing. Three trains/hour all night long. They provided ear plugs in the room. They were also remodeling. No refridgerator or microwave in room and the hot tub was closed.

Keep away from the RR Tracks

Posted Sep 4, 2013
Pros: I typically like Americinns. They are overall a good value and we like the breakfast.
Cons: Thicker glass to block the train HORNS. HORRIBLE!
Location: Convenient. Virginia is cute.
Nice hotel and value. Except for the train at 5:30 am! We would have been content if we were not on the train side.

Too near a railroad.

Posted Oct 2, 2012
The hotel itsself and the rooms were nicely kept and normally I would recommend it to a friend. But...the hotel is located about a hundred yards from a railway. About six trains came by during the night and we woke up every time because it sounded the loud whistle.

Nice rooms, great free breakfast

Posted Jul 22, 2011
Rooms are nice and clean. They have a great free breakfast each morning. I recommend that you reserve a front room at the hotel otherwise you will hear the freight trains during the night. Other than that, the location is good, and there is a bar / restaurant at a very easy walking distance.
