Had long drive from Hilo during rush hour in the pouring rain. Had no problem finding cottage in Volcano. The lights were on and we found the cottage to be very warm and welcoming. There was fruit on the counter and milk for our cereal in the morning. Beautiful rainforest surrounding the cottage. The whole cottage was decorated and felt very zen-like. Enjoyed every minute here and would love to return.

After more than a week in hotels having an actual cottage with a fully stocked kitchen and spacious bathroom was such a relief. It's very convenient to Hawaii Volcano National Park and the town of Volcano. The owners, Bob and Bonnie, were extremely welcoming and warm. There's free WiFi and a washer dryer, which was a lifesaver. All toiletries that you either forgot to take or couldn't take. The kitchen has every type of breakfast imaginable, including cereals, eggs, fresh fruit, milk, coffee, tea, orange juice.
This area of Hawaii can be cold and rainy. The Cottage has an assortment of sweaters and jackets to borrow.
Don't buy any supplies before you see the place. It's probably already there.

We reserved the cottage for an overnight on the east side of the island and wished we had made plans to stay longer! The outside hot tub, isolated and quiet area with brilliant stars, birds singing in the morning were a wonderful escape! The creative loving care in the interior design made our brief stay special! We will return but stay longer!

Very peaceful BnB hotel). About 3-4 miles from the Volcano city center and the park. Surrounded by tropical vegetation and a wrap around deck to enjoy the peace. Cold cereals and coffee etc. available. No services and except for a brief interaction with the caretaker (?) on the logistics, no other human interactions. Great for getting away from the city hubbub, but not so great if you feel hungry and need quick gratification.

Mum and I stayed in the Africa Room for two nights while we were visiting the volcanoes national park. The common room was very comfortable and clean - I sat out here and used the computer and the sound of the pond water feature was very relaxing. It was also very well appointed with boardgames and comfortable chairs and tea and coffee facilities. The room itself was unique and is one of the hotels that stands out in my mind from my trip. The outdoor lanai with kitchen facilities was great. Very close to local resturants and quiet during the night. Loved the town of Volcano and can't wait to come back here again. I'd definitely stay at Chalet again.

This hotel is really far away from downtown and not easy to find. if you don't drive, taxi may cost a lot, because bus system is not that convenient on Big Island. Besides, when i checked in, I was told that my room was not the same place with the lobby but several miles away from it, and if I wanted to live near, I needed to pay an extra fee. However, the rooms are so well decorated with kitchen and a large bathroom. There are many paintings and other decorations in every room．I also love the environment there, for it's very close to nature. overall，it's a great place to have a good rest of the year．
