Great stay, Michael gave us all the info on trails, hiking, food etc so we did not even have to go to the visitor center.
Very sort drive to the volcano which was active a great while we were there. It rains in the rain-forest so we
did not use the deck as much as I would like but had great sleeps and very close to all the action! Would highly

The cottage is very cozy with everything you would ever need for breakfast or a quick lunch. You were so near an active volcano, you though you could feel the heat. Five minutes from the Park entrance. At night you are only ten minutes from watching the glow of the volcano.

I definitely love this place, all 5 stars!! We arrived late and tired that night, just got out of the plane had nothing to eat, surprisingly, the staff showed us there were enough food and snacks, even fresh fruits stocked in the room, free to eat! We couldn't be more happy and grateful!! The room is very cozy and romantic, we hung the curtain in the daytime so we could live in the tropical forest. The only downside is the wifi not so good however not a big deal. We didn't even want to step out of the room in the daytime and had our volcano tour behind the schedule! 99.99% satisfaction if the wifi is better:P You might find a big and overweight black cat around, like a fat pillow on the floor, super cute!

"Grand, elegant and comfortable luxury for a family"
The house and rooms were well appointed with unique and superb luxuries for all of the senses... a stately bed, heated with the softest blankets, a jetted tub with a towel warmer, palatial furniture and incredible views of forest and pond, flowers and tropical birds... for a family of four this is a find beyond price... we could hike and explore the park and trails all day and then come home and luxuriate in the very best of everything... slippers, delectable treats (and breakfast, all I can say is wow!). The koa woodwork and unique artifacts delighted us as much as the spa tub and rolling acres of fruit trees, ginger and ohia. Not to disappoint, internet, television, movies and games are available. My daughter got to feed the fish and goats... there should be a category for a bed and breakfast that goes above and beyond the term... this is your dream home and Theresa is the perfect host.

Great B&B. Nice breakfast with cold/hot cereal, different types of toast, fresh local fruit, etc. Kistchy cottagey, welcoming feel. On a farm, roosters wake you up to remind you to get up to see the nearby (10 min drive) active volcano in time for watching the sun rise up over it. 45 min drive from Hilo airport. Very friendly & interesting owner. Great to chill, if desired, around the table in the dining room to discuss travels with other guests or read in the well appointed library. Free internet. Quite clean, not sparkling (i.e. Hard to reach places a little dusty- didn't bother me). Great base camp for exploring the big island.

My husband and I booked our stay with Bamboo Orchid after seeing great reviews, and we definitely weren't disappointed. Our flight into Hilo arrived at 8 pm so we didn't arrive until late, but check-in was a breeze and the room was so inviting when we walked in. We stayed in the "Enchanted Forest" room, which was fantastic. The fireplace was perfect during those cool nights, and we actually found ourselves looking forward to coming back to the room-- especially that sinfully comfortable bed!-- at the end of a long day sightseeing. The staff was wonderful, and the breakfast was perfect every morning. Gary managed to provide a filling, tasty breakfast despite rigid state laws against presenting cooked breakfasts, and the fresh fruit and sweet breads were just what we needed to start the day off right. Not to mention the fantastic Kona coffee! We were sad to leave this little gem and would definitely return and recommend.

A fun & unusual experience, Really felt like a tree house in a rain forest. Room was very nicely decorated. Gary (the host) was friendly and accommodating. Super close to Volcano N.P. Only complaint was parking area was little tight to get in and out of. The resident cat is very friendly and added to the homey feel. Very satisfied!

Always came home to a tidy home ((stayed 2weeks) loved the coffee and the fruit each morning, Mahi always had sis festoons for us to do and eat out at. Local inside information. Went to see the volcano eruption, hadn't erupted since 1968? The lodge is very big and beautiful.. Hidden back in the countryside everthough the frist drive at night might seem far or like your lost it's easy after the first trip 4.4 miles excactly off hwy 11 off wright rd just fallow it up there's a left bend in the roads then about 1 mile there's a rt turn then a small country one lane travel it 1.4 miles look for the st sign that reads sleepy hallo slow down it's the next left driveway pull pup to the main entry unload then park into the marked parking area, don't forget to take your shoes off, local tradition..... Enjoy your stay as we did......
