A room with a view!
This hotel was the perfect place to base myself for exploring Petra. I received a free upgrade to a bigger room on arrival with a gorgeous view out over the valley. The hotel is out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the main street of Petra which I thought might have been a bit disappointing but proved to be great respite. The Bedouin dinner experience whilst the sun was setting is not to be missed! The hotel staff were very helpful in assisting to organise bus transfers to Aqaba and there is a free hotel shuttle bus that will take you to the other Mövenpick hotel right opposite the Petra Visitors Centre - I left at 7:45am for a morning exploring Petra. A great place to stay!

Alaa J. that works at the front desk was a fantastic help! She was kind, friendly, and professional. The view that the hotel has is Amazing. Everything was almost perfect except, the limited parking spots, the paint job inside the hotel, and the carpet on the 1st floor (the color of that carpet is bizarre) ;)

Excellent stay!
Staff was very kind and provided us a very special experience. It was our wedding anniversary and we received a room upgrade and some wine and fruits in the room. We always felt welcome! Swimming had great temperature. Facilities are beautiful, stunning view outside for sunset and chocolate time is great for children. The description on Expedia is a bit misleading in that it claims to be 1.8 km from Petra, and while that may be true in a "as the bird flies" sense, it's an 8 km drive from the entrance. Either way, it's a good hotel for the price and had what we needed.

I cannot compliment the staff enough they totally made this visit. The hotel is lovely and in the Perfect spot overlooking the valley. It is about 10 min out of Wadi Musa in a taxi, but well worth it as you get to have breakfast and dinner on the terrace overlooking the valley. Some rooms just a little tired but ours was great with a very large king size bed. This was the very best part of our trip to Jordan.

Wonderful experience with upgraded room, magnificent view, attentive service (except for lack of Gluten free bread). The pool temperature was a little chilly at 22C but everything else was exceptional.

Clean, luxurious, slippers and gown provided, water provide, iron provided just so well equipped ! Staff at reception so friendly and helpful. It was my sisters anniversary so they provided a cake and even upgraded us so kind and made it extra special. Only downfall was you can only get food room service until 11pm called at 10.50pm no one answered to take order and receptionist said they would get back to me and never did!!! Apart from that everything else wasn’t perfect, view is sensational and we had a balcony. Just a really comfortable stay and bed.

Petra Hotel
The Nabatean Castle is not a 5-Star Hotel. At best it scrapes through as a 4 Star. The hotel has old box-type TVs; the room furniture is trashy and the food is only passable. On the plus side, the beds are comfortable and the hotel has great views. It is located some 8 kms from the Petra gate but we had a rental and so was not at all inconvenienced. In fact, we enjoyed the hotel's remote location. The price paid was reasonable (USD160 in Mid-March)

Cosy hotel with a great view
We stayed at the Moevenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel for two nights whilst visiting Petra. Whilst this hotel was very cosy and we enjoyed out stay there were a few things that were frustrating. The hotel says that it is a five star hotel however there was no internet in the rooms and the wireless in the lobby was broken so we were unable to use our own computers. There was a business centre but the internet there was incredibly slow at times. They also did not have a concierge, when it was too cold and wet to visit Petra the person behind the desk was unable to offer us any alternative activities or any real advice about anything. The hotel was a bit out of town which suited us fine ad the view was great and we had a car but without a car could be a bit isolated. Overall our stay was fine but I would be inclined to say that this is more four star than five star and if you go with that expectation it would be enjoyable.

Moevanpick Nabatean Castle, Petra Jordan
The bedroom linens and furnishings were worn out, dated and dusty respectively. Carpets were very dirty and not secured in certain places. Pillows were not comfortable and too small. Shower roses were not functioning properly. Restaurant buffet breakfast was well supplied and the staff was helpful and pleasant. The chef, however, was not always readily available for an omlet and one had to wait some time for this service.

The Movenpick Nabatean Hotel is a beautiful old hotel situated on a high mountain road overlooking Petra and the valley area. The view is quite beautiful from the outdoor dining terace. The view from our particular room overlooked the parking lot! and should have been better considering the cost. The food was good and the staff attentive and friendly. The main problem with this hotel is that it is a 10 minute cab ride and $10-$14 US to town and the Petra entrance. There is nothing close by to walk to.

stay in a unique castle by Petra
we stayed in a standard room with a balcony that overlooked the mountains. it was spectacular. the hotel is in need of a new carpet, but other than that, it was a great and memorable stay. it is all about the view. it is a 5-10 minute drive to town/ the main entrance to Petra, which most cab drivers would happily oblige for 5 JDs or so.

Great views but too far from Petra park entrance
Old and tired hotel but has beautiful views of the mountains surrounding Petra. The taxi ride to the Petra visitors centre is exhorbitant and the reason why I would not recommend this hotel. Much better to rent a car and drive around Jordan than deal with the expensive taxis.

Glad we stayed here
Took us a while to find the hotel, since it's outside of town and the directions we had been given (by another party) were misleading. So the hotel is not as conveniently close to the Petra site as some others, but otherwise we found the hotel a very good place to stay and the staff very attentive and helpful. The room we were in had a great view overlooking the Petra valley. We don't normally eat at hotel restaurants, other than breakfasts, but since no eating places are nearby, we had an excellent dinner at the hotel. Lastly we had some minor trouble with our rental car on the last day of our stay--the hotel staff helped us get started and directed to us to a mechanic in town, who took care of the problem and had us on our way in less than hour.

Hotel was very pleasant. Not exactly 5 star, but possibly a low 4-star. The staff were very nice. The rooms are a little spartan for what one pays, but then Jordan is somewhat of a developing nation still.

The hotel was poorest "luxury" hotel we have stayed in. Rooms were worn and need updating. Location was OK and builiding was impressive. Seemed to cater more to large tour groups than individual guests.

Not impressed -- look at other options in Wadi Musa
We stayed here for two nights while visiting Petra. We checked in around 9pm in the lovely lobby, but the front-desk staff had a really tough time finding my Expedia reservation, a complete drag. Dingy carpet, bathroom with terribly grey-colored tiles and designed to look like a castle or something like that, and musty smell. The hotel overall is tired, but there might be newer parts with better rooms, not sure. The beds were only a sheet and a blanket, but otherwise comfy enough and clean; we slept comfortably. The breakfast buffet was adequate with cheery and friendly staff. Room service food was alright, too, with the BIG exception that on both nights, the tray/cart was left outside the room all night even after we asked them to be taken away -- imagine how onions smelled in the morning. My main disappointment with this place was the high price we paid for the level of room and comfort overall. Most other hotel options were sold out, and I do realize that Wadi Musa is pricey (second trip for me), but still.

Generally the hotel was good. The manager assisted when the computer in the business room wasn't available. Staff very courteous. Food in the evening let the hotel down.

Same 'ol Mövenpick, just 10 minutes away from Petra's gate!
Hotel The property is located 10-15 minutes away from the main gate to Petra. If using the hotel's shuttle service to the site, it is important to keep in mind their schedule; which is rather limited (but functional enough). Room Outstanding equipment and cleanliness. After a long day walking around Petra, you will definitely enjoy the huge and comfy beds in the room. Dining Not as amazing as the rest of the hotel services. One night we had to wait nearly 30 minutes to get our meal served. Perhaps room service was given a priority; the restaurant phone didn't stop ringing Parking: Complimentary Internet access: Supposedly available for a fee in the room and free in the hotel public areas. However, the hotel had problems with its ISP and we couldn't check email during our stay (2 days)

Moevenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel - November 2009-Fantastic
The Moevenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel was a delightful stay. We rented a car (which I recommend) so commuting into town was no trouble. Once I got acquainted with the layout around Petra, staying at this hotel a little off the beaten path became a really good choice for us. The immediate Petra vicinity is a kind of bustling place with tourist shops and eateries. At the end of a long day hiking through Petra it was nice to relax in this hotel slightly removed from the hustle and bustle and with gorgeous mountain views. The commute between the Petra entrance and the hotel was approx. 10 minutes by car. We would get to Petra early (no later than 7:30 am) and park near the entrance. This made it very easy for us. The staff at the Moevenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel was great-extremely courteous and friendly and often asked if we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. We didn't use the pool, but it seemed nice enough. It is glass enclosed with mountain views and adjacent a decent sized gym. The morning buffet was delightful. It opens at 6:30am and we got there each day exactly at that time-no crowds and an early entry to Petra. If you don't stay here and you are willing to spend a bit more money, the Moevenpick at the Petra entry is spectacular. It is right at the gate and a beautiful hotel. I still prefer the Nabatean Castle Hotel because I liked retreating at the end of a long day, but the sister hotel is beautiful.

Outstanding Hotel
This hotel is outstanding in almost every area. Food selection could have been better for Movenpick but the remoteness of the hotel location probably accounted for that minor shortcoming.
