The two of us had a great time here during our October stay. The room was large with very nice finishes and it had a good view of the ocean across the fairway. It was very quiet. The private beach was small but nice and not crowded. Swimming and snorkeling are good at this beach. The grocery store in the resort had everything needed for making meals in the condo. The resort grounds were well maintained and car and people traffic were light. This is a great place for couples looking for a relaxing atmosphere.

Our stay at the Islands of Mauna Lani was simply wonderful! I can't really say enough great things about our experience there. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and our condo was stocked with everything we needed and more. They really go out of their way to make sure that your stay is ideal. For example, their check out time is normally 10:00 AM, but when we told them that our flight out didn't leave until 4:00 PM, they accommodated us with a late check out time of 1:30 PM.
The resort is gated, so we felt very safe and secure throughout our stay. Each unit has it's own garage, as far as I could tell, so you don't have to worry about your rental car getting scratched up while you're parked. There is also a private recreation center with a pool, whirlpool and grilling facilities.
There are several excellent restaurants nearby, but we also had a very fully stocked kitchen and propane grill available to cook our own meals. The Foodland grocery store at the resort is reasonably priced (by Hawaii standards), but be sure to register for their Maika'i card, which will save you about 33%. By the way, the staff at Foodland is also exceptionally friendly.
We had planned to snorkel at numerous beaches during our trip, but discovered that the semi-private beach at this resort was so perfect, there was really no need to go elsewhere. If you visit there, you'll understand what I mean.
All things considered, I can't imagine finding a better place to stay.

My whole family loved the villa accommodations, the villa was beautiful and just like staying at home. We went to the grocery store and bought groceries for the week. The villas had excellent kitchen accommodations so we could do our own meals, just like at home. We rented movies, cooked our own popcorn. We had a two bedroom villa. The kids had their room with twin beds and we had a king and a huge room. It was bright, cheery, comfortable and the grounds made for wonderful walks. We had all kinds of birds to feed and golfers to watch on our porch. The pool and spa were great. We tried it at night and during the day. Even with the wind blowing, the experience was great! The villa provided detergent so we could wash our clothes. Loved it. The only complaint was the beds were pretty hard.

A beautiful hotel resort right on the beach with friendly staff. The rooms were spacious, clean and little details were well thought. The beach was a great place to snorkel. The nearby beach club, 10 mins walk along the beach, or a free shuttle ride, was a better snorkeling place with some colorful corals. The towels, paddle boards for the kids, snorkel gear were all free. The beach visits ended with a visit to the hot tub, then over to the bar for some Mai Tais. My wife spent an evening at one of the hammocks on the beach.
We also took a bike (free ride in the evening around the beautiful golf course. Don't skip and the historic site hike next to the hotel. The short 10 min hike is next to a lava tube (collapsed) and We could also get into a cave where pre-historic family lived.
Breakfast was good but pricey, but so are other hotels around here. We mostly ate out at the Waikoloa village or the mall area. Overall, we had no complaints with the place and were sad to leave after 4 days.
