“Adequate for an overnight stay”

Our family stayed here for a night while we were visiting Washington D.C. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel is because it had an indoor swimming pool for the kids. However, when we went to the pool we discovered that community swimming lessons are scheduled in the evening and swimming for hotel patrons is limited to one VERY small end of the pool. This was very disappointing and I must admit, a bit odd. In terms of the hotel itself, it definately needs to be updated. Areas such as the carpet and bathroom have seen better days and although basically clean simply looked dingy due to their age. I booked this room when it was on sale, and although it served its purpose for us, I would not pay full price. On a positive note, parking was free and the continental breakfast was excellent . The metro was about 15 minutes away and their were numerous inexpensive restuarants nearby.

“a bit better than average”

hotel was clean and friendly; bed was comfortable enough, though not high quality; rates were not too high; but "free" breakfast was a joke: powdered eggs, paper-thin bacon, and none of the extras that even super 8 gives their guests. not a bad hotel but, if free breakfast is your deciding factor, go elsewhere.

“We would definitely return to this hotel. Great bargain.”

“bug infested rooms - old hotel trying to be classy”

Weird hotel that offered almost any service, but did them all poorly. Very old dilapidated facilities in need of a renovation. Would only recommend for ease of commute to DC.

Nightlife

The "Decoy Lounge" was a pathetic excuse for a bar/nightclub. Cool if you are 65 and local.

“Not the best”

Clean, large room that definately needed updating and TLC. They were in the process of tearing out the old fashioned wall paper and painting some of the rooms while we were there.The location was 1 hour from Dulles airport and is not the best for the commute into DC but it was good if your activities were in and around that particular area. So, do not believe the ads saying it is a short drive to DC - it takes about 35 minutes. Service was very friendly but not helpful when questions were asked regarding the Metro, and any of the amenities of the hotel. The free breakfast was very unimpressive. Same thing served for 3 days so we skipped the third day. Maybe because everything is slightly damp in this part of the country, the food was not crisp and had a bit of a wierd taste to it. The pool had a visible oil on it, Skipped using it.

Area recommendations

Area closer to DC for the vacation traveler. This was a long drive back when you are already tired from sightseing.

“not bad for the price”

My family stayed at this hotel for two nights. Most of the staff was very friendly...except for those in the dining room...they were not very pleasant. The rooms were pretty well kept...the showers were excellent...but we did have problems with lighting in the room. The floor lamp didn't work and the lamp on the table seemed to have a short in it. They have a free shuttle to the metro station which runs every hour, so getting into town was convenient. Overall it was an ok deal for the money that we paid.

“great hotel but very limited availability of pool/hottub”

The hotel room was great. The breakfast buffet was very good. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the pool schedule and pool staff. No pool/hottub hours were posted, so we asked about Sunday's hours and were told the pool did not open until 10am and closed at 9pm. We rushed back at 8:30pm, just in time to be told that the pool was already closed but would be available again at 6am. We returned to the pool at 8:30am to find it completey occupied by a water aerobics class. When we went to the hot tub, we were promptly told that our 11 year old son was not allowed in (no-one under 18). When we asked when the wateraerobics would be over we were told it would be about 11, then they would be playing water volleyball which would "probably die down around noon' ,so we never did get to enjoy the pool.

Area recommendations

We stayed here and drove into Washington DC. This was convenient and worked out well

“Great price and great staff in Decoy lounge”

An older hotel, and there was remodeling happening on our floor so there was an odor of paint, but it was not overwhelming. Staff was very friendly, and the shuttle to the metro was a great benefit. The breakfast buffet was really good also.

The Pentagon Memorial is very well done and is a must see.

“Great Stay”

The buffet break was a personal lifesaver. Very nice and clean room, with a well kept out door atmosphere. Used there complimentary shuttle to the Branch Ave Metro station to get to and from Washington DC every day.

“wonderful getaway outside the Nation's Capital”

the only complaint is that the lounge chairs on the outside could use some replacement seat cushions! the pool closes at 930, kinda early for summer hours! the answering service for te spa never returned my call after I left a message that I wanted to make an appointment for a massage! other than that, it was a wonderful time
