Wall Vacations

Spend a while in Wall, which is located 14 miles (23 kilometers) to the south of Northumberland. If you are coming from the Newcastle International Airport in Northumberland, Wall is about 17 miles (27 kilometers) to the northwest.

Wall is a great place to base yourself while you are exploring Northumberland as a large number of the area’s main attractions are within easy reach. Two sights that should be at the top of every visitor’s list is the fabulous Chesters Roman Fort and the much-loved Hexham Abbey. And if your schedule allows, be sure to visit the Hexham Market Place and Old Gaol.

There are many natural gifts here as well, so make sure you enjoy the chance to get outdoors. Take sunscreen and some equipment and spend an afternoon exploring the waters of Crag Lough in Hexham.

Some of Northumberland's best attractions are in and around Wall, such as Vindolanda in Hexham and the Corbridge Roman Site in Corbridge. For a tour of the nearby historic sights, visit the Housesteads Roman Fort in Hexham and the Great Chesters Fort.

Visitors with a passion for rugby union or soccer will love the energy at Kingston Park Stadium, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the home of local favorites the Newcastle Falcons and the much-loved Newcastle United Reserves. Afterwards, follow the local sports obsessives to a nearby pub and relive the match highlights over a few drinks.

Finding somewhere convenient to stay around the Wall area couldn’t be easier. Check out the rooms and rates at the De Vere Hotel Slaley Hall, Hexham, the Cheviot Hotel, Hexham, or the Battlesteads Hotel, Hexham.
