“not impressed”
The lobby gives the guest the impression that it is in the same league as the Davenport in Spokane or the Olympic in Seattle. Not so. Expedia guests are relegated to the West Wing, a long walk from the lobby, served by one tiny and very slow elevator. The rooms in the West Wing are little different from the Comfort Inn. The window heater/air conditioner hums loudly all night and the water pipes squeal loudly any time a neighbor turns on the water or flushes a toilet. After I checked out and told the front desk I planned to go to my room to retrieve my bag, my key ceased to work. Another long wait for the elevator (no house phones on the guest floors), two master keys (one did not work; the second only after multiple tries), and 30 minutes later, I was at last able to get my bag and depart. Thank goodness I did not have a plane to catch. The breakfast is excellent but for the difference in cost, stay at the Budget Inn across the street, take yourself out for breakfast and keep the change.
“Make sure you are in the old wing”
We were put in the new wing, which doesn't have the character of the old.
“Had a great time”
Other than having to wait all the way until three o'clock check in to get a room, we had a great experience. The room rate was reasonable when we booked it. The room was very nice--nice soft robes available in the room. We were able to get them to bring us a cork screw and wine glasses so that we could enjoy the wine that we bought at the local wineries. We ate dinner in The Marc restaurant and it was very good--a little on the pricey side but very good and worth it. Most of the restaurants in Walla Walla are a little pricey so it wasn't out of range for the local economy. They offer a hot buffet breakfast to hotel guests which was also very good. I would definitely recommend it.
“Comfortable and tasteful”
We came to Walla Walla for a wine tour weekend. We liked that the Marc was extremely pet friendly, even having a grassy area on the campus complete with doggie bags. That was nice and convenient. The room was clean and comfortable but the pillows were so flimsy and too soft! It made for a miserable night! If we ever go back (which I'm sure we will) I'll just be sure to bring an extra pillow. The free breakfast was not just great, but actually really great! Home made yougurt, applewood smoked bacon, eggs, fruit, sausage... A real breakfast! The hotel staff were all very kind with every interaction. They seem to really understand customer service. I wish the room had a 'do not disturb' sign as we don't need a cleaning over a simple weekend stay, but we choose that time to eat breakfast and wine taste anyway! Overall, a very nice and friendly hotel!
“Great Hotel”
Enjoyed our stay very much. Lovely hotel and you can't beat the location. Walk to all of the great restaurants in Walla Walla.
“Beautiful Hotel”
Great hotel - very comfortable, large rooms. Wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the restaurant. Included buffet breakfast was great.
“Nice place”
We were in a wheelchair accessible room for some reason, so it was a little odd - no shower curtain but big bathroom. Room was nice, but left over coffee from previous guest still in the coffee maker made me wonder about the cleanliness. Saw no other problems. The on-site restaurant was spendy but absolutely fantastic!
“Great Location for downtown Walla Walla.”
This is an old, historic hotel that does have some character but be aware that a lot of the rooms are in a newer annex which is somewhat 'tacky'. It is in a great location for down town Walla Walla and has a rather resplendent lobby and sitting area. I found the quality of the breakfast (which was included) to be very medioca to say the least...
“Fabulous from start to finish.”
My husband's & my experience @ the Marcus Whitman Hotel exceeded our expectations! From the effecient staff, the pristine condition of our room,& the entire hotel, the comfortable bed,& wonderful pillows & bedding, we were very pleased. The one comment in the slightly negative was the workout room. Very small & a bit lacking equipment. For the size of this grand hotel,I hope they might consider the many of us travelers that put great importance in the workout rooms.
“Great location”
Great character to this hotel. The breakfast Buffet was worth the extra money to stay here hands down. Stayed in the tower just a nice experience.
